Dr. David Allan Gehret, MD

Horrible doctor and a very unpleasant man. I went to this doctor for a test and he was rude and dismissive from the moment I walked into his office. He said my previous experience with neurologists could not have happened (i.e., I am lying), said he couldn’t see the obvious deformation of my shoulder due to nerve damage, and when I told him the nerve conduction test was needed to determine if I need cervical spinal surgery (I am disabled and in constant pain), he said there is nothing wrong with me, why would I need surgery? I asked if he had looked at my MRI and X-rays which show significant problems, and he said, no they don’t, there is nothing wrong with you. I was shocked! I’ve already been diagnosed with multiple cervical spinal issues. I asked him to confirm that he believed my X-rays and MRI show no problems and my cervical spine was in fact perfect. At this point, he said, “ I won’t help you with these tests. I don’t deal with patients like you.” So after all my pain and… effort to get to this office, fill out all the paperwork, wait for 30 minutes, and give him access to my images… I guess he was in too bad of a mood to do the scheduled tests. I would NEVER recommend this doctor. I really believe he has some sort of mental problem. I’ve never been treated so rudely and disrespectfully by any doctor. Ever. Don’t go here if you need a doctor who cares about you and has any sort of compassion. Because this guy doesn’t.

I was a patient 14 years ago when Dr. Gehret diagnosed my condition after an MRI. He referred me to another neurologist who has been treating me. Since the treatment has lost its effectiveness, I wanted simply to ask for a referral for tertiary care for perhaps surgical or nonsurgical care for what is now an advanced case of my condition. I was told twice on separate occasions that his office had problems locating my records within their "system" and could not schedule an appointment with me. Finally after about 3 weeks, the staff scheduled an appointment and I was told to fill out papers that I would be sent for the visit, as I was being treated as a "new" patient. After not receiving any papers for another week, I called the office again (my 4th call) and was notified my appointment was cancelled almost immediately after it was made, and unfortunately Dr. Gehret no longer sees patients with my condition! If this was the case, I am wondering why I wasn't told this after my first… call almost 1 month prior. I did have a great impression of Dr. Gehret with my initial visits years ago, but that has drastically changed. Either he doesn't care about a patient who has a condition he no longer treats, and/or the staff is simply incompetent and was giving me the "run around." At my age and my deteriorating condition, I am enraged and hope other prospective patients think twice before seeing Dr. Gehret or having any interaction with his staff.

Does not listen to the patient. Ignored specialist’s diagnosis and cut me off with an angry tone and shrugged his shoulders when I asked him a questions. Something is mentally wrong this man, he should not be seeing patients.

What a wonderful doctor. A smart thoughtful and thorough scientist. He will give you the most thorough and comprehensive exams and he is tenacious about solving problems. Our family will always be in his debt.

I have been seeing Dr. Gehret for Neuropathy in my feet. He is caring, informative, takes time to listen, and communicated with me very thoroughly. He took the time to explain everything to me and even printed out some information for me to take home and read. He speaks slowly and clearly and made sure to answer all my questions. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. His staff is pleasant, and very professional. JJP

He stated that I “was taking his time away from his other patients”. Am I not your patient? OMG. Stone cold; always looking down into his computer; poor eye contact.

I was referred to Dr Gehret for a second opinion and EMG/NCV after initial CTS diagnosis could not be validated. The exam and tests were thorough and well-explained. The doctor correctly suspected a serious problem and accelerated my care by arranging an immediate MRI and next day consult. I was provided comprehensive same day visit reports and surgeon referral. Because of the responsiveness of Dr Gehret and staff, I had a first meeting with a surgeon less than a week later. His local patients are fortunate to have him but never hesitate to commute further to see him for a second opinion. I highly recommend Dr Gehret.

Office staff is rude and does not take responsibility for mistakes they make

Dr. Gehret is a caring and knowledgeable doctor. We had tried many doctors in neurology, orthopedics, rheumatoid, etc. here at US as well as in Japan. But no doctor could tell what is wrong with my wife. We almost gave up since no one could find out what the cause of her disease is. We had asked many people if they know a good doctor in neurology. Then the optometrist we go to told us that Dr. Gehret was the first one who figured out what is wrong with her mother after they tried all kinds of doctors. So we made an appointment and he diagnosed her accurately at the first visit when she described her symptoms even though her disease is one of the rare diseases. We really appreciate her referral. We are very much grateful to him and feel very fortunate to have found such a knowledgeable doctor in this field of specialty.
