David Carl Giovannini, MD

David Giovannini, MD, FACP, is a board-certified internal medicine physician at Prisma Health in Columbia, South Carolina. He received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia and completed his residency in internal medicine at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Giovannini joined the faculty in the division of general internal medicine upon completion of his training and is now the program director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. He is a clinical associate professor of medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia. His clinical interests include undergraduate and graduate medical education and implementation of point-of-care ultrasound at the bedside. He is also the physician lead of a multidisciplinary diabetes specialty clinic at the 1801 Sunset Internal Medicine Center. He sees patients in the hospital as well as in the ambulatory setting.

Prior to medical …school, he received his undergraduate degree in textile engineering from North Carolina State University and worked as a process improvement engineer in the Upstate of South Carolina.
