Dr. David Jay Jaffe, MD

Dr. Jaffe has saved our family. We travel 2 hours because his knowledge, commitment, and bedside manner are worth it. His specialty in PANS/PANDAS has been my son’s saving grace. Dr. Jaffe is very thorough, research driven, & professional. Highly recommend.

I was a patient of Dr. Jaffe when he was at Womack army medical center on ft. Bragg all the way up until he moved to VA. He is one of the best Doctors I ever had. I wish I could still see him but unfortunately with him being in VA and me being in NC it not possible. Man I miss him!

Dr Jaffee has treated my son for pandas and has provided him exceptional service to include after hours calls to check on him and ensuring my son has the meds he needs even when dr Jaffee was across the country on vacation. His nurse is exceptional as well. We are blessed to have them on our team. Top notch service!

Does anyone know what happened to cause him to close his office with no patient notification

Loved the Doc. Excellent neurologist. Poorly run Staff. Stunned at sudden abandonment of patients. Kapow, the office was closed. No warning given, just a voice mail left at last minute canceling our little ones appointment. We were left without any referral to a replacement, no prescription refills, no follow up to complications that had developed, no copies of the medical records. Now what do we do?

Dr. Jaffe is great. His Staff, not so much. As long as everything is routine & prebooked at the counter there, things go fine. If your child has seizures in between the prebooked 6 month appointments & needs to see the Doc LOOK OUT!! You won't get in. No appointment for your poor child! No returned phone calls. Nothing!! Even going in person is useless. They refuse to book anything, just take a note & say they'll get back to you. Which they don't!! This is the 3d time our family member has gone through this Nightmare! His Staff is cold, clueless, incompetent & lazy. Dr. Jaffe needs to make sure his patients are properly taken care of.

When my pediatrician recommended Dr. Jaffe, I looked him up here on vitals and the post about him being uncaring and not giving a child meds worried me. I called the office. While the person who answered was very nice, she explained she could not comment on a specific case due to the importance of privacy for every patient. Not even to defend the doctor if someone said something that wasn't true. So, I asked about policies. It turns out that what the other person said is probably not what happened at all. If a patient were to miss appointments ( no doctor likes this ), and finally the parent called - if the child was out of medicine - they would schedule an appointment and provide enough medicine to last to the appointment - by calling the pharmacy. If the child had been under the care of another doctor since the last visit - the family should be calling that doctor to continue the medication till the new (or in a case like this) old doctor sees the patient again. The secretary… explained this is a medical - legal issue - Doctors are required to document prescriptions in association with evaluations (exams - so the Dr has to see the patient! I asked - what about a 'former' patient who needs more medicine but simply cannot come to Dr. Jaffe for it? The secretary says this does happen. What everyone in the office knows and would tell the parent is to simply take the child to their local (current) pediatrician. THat pediatrician could either call Dr Jaffe on the phone ( he gives out his cell number and it is on the answering machine as well!) for advice and then write the prescription or simply write the prescription for the child until the child is seen. So, in my opinion, this mother simply didn't get it. Dr. Jaffe would not 'punish' a child (or parent) - but he probably would also not prescribe medications inappropriately.I did take my son to see Dr. Jaffe. Like another person commented about a year ago - he can talk alot. But then, he was explaining things very thoroughly - very carefully. I could tell he wanted to make sure I was getting the answeres I had been to several other Drs already for and no one had taken the time to answer!. As we wrapped up - he asked if I had any more questions. He started to stand up. When I began to ask a question, he sat back down and listened carefully, then, even though I know he is busy (sorry to the next person waiting), he answered my question. At the end of the visit he made sure I knew that if I needed him - even when the office was closed - that he answers his cell phone at all times (unless he is on a plane - because they make him turn it off). I would recommend Dr. Jaffe.

one of the best doctors I have ever been to

We have been seeing Dr. Jaffe for several month and we are more than pleased with the service of the staff, the time Dr. Jaffe spends with us and I love the fact that he includes my daughter in our conversations since she is the one most impacted by ADHD. He speaks in terms we can understand and ofter gives examples on how we can make improvements at home. I like the fact that meds are not just thrown at my child as a fix, but that there are other things we can assess with the meds to help bring out the best in my child. He and his staff are wonderful!
