Dr. Kays is the best surgeon in the United States for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). He gives hope where no other surgeon would. He believes in the babies and in his remarkable abilities. He has fantastic bedside manner and devotes his life to saving lives. He is different from any other surgeon you will ever encounter and if your baby is diagnosed with CDH, you cannot put him or her in better hands. My baby had right-sided CDH and was more than 7 weeks early on top of that. He treated her at all times like she was going to survive and that made all the difference. I now have a healthy, thriving 5 year old! Beyond that, the nurses and nurse practitioners and other doctors at Shands are beyond amazing with great bedside manner and caring hearts and great skill and expertise with CDH.

Dr Kays was our daughter's surgeon 3 times. Even though the surgeries were simple compared to the others he does, he spent time thoroughly explaining things to us. He talked to us as an equal. Dr Kays is not only highly skilled, he is personable and caring. The whole experience was easy and our daughter did wonderfully.

Dr. Kayes is awesome. He did surgery on my son for Pectus Carinatum. Before surgery he could not even lay on his chest because of the protrusion. The incision was so small and it has healed beautifully. You can barely see a scar. We went to four other surgeons before deciding on Dr. Kayes. I cannot say enough about the good care that Shands Hospital and Dr. Kayes provided. Do not hesitate to go to this doctor. He is the best.

Dr. Kays is the best doctor in the country for babies with CDH. I would highly recommend.
