Dr. David Winston Kossoff, MD

I have been a patient of this doctor for over 20 years. For The past 6 months I have been ill. No one could figure out what the problem was. I went to Dr. Kossoff and he diagnosed what he thought it was. The procedure that I needed is not something that he does and he sent me to someone who did the procedure and the issue is finally resolving after six long months. Again thank you Dr Kossoff. Please don't retire before the next 20 years

Dr. Kossoff has always gone the extra mile for my family. He takes the time to fully explain our conditions and the treatment plans he is proposing. His practice has taken care of my wife and I for varying GI issues for over a decade. The staff has always been very professional to us and is very proficient in answering all questions and concerns. The facility is very clean and well organized.

Dr. Kossoff and his team have been my doctor for several years always showing personal concern to go the extra mile and be available when diagnosing my health issue to ensure a speedy recovery.

I recently had a colonoscopy that went well. But the heart monitoring as part of the procedure showed issues with my heart. At the 3 week follow up after the colonoscopy, Dr. Kossoff was concerned that my appointment with a cardiologist had been pushed out to 2 weeks in the future. He was concerned that my heart rate was elevated. He called a nearby cardiologist and I was seen the same day. I appreciate the extra time Dr. Kossoff spent at the follow up. It could turn out more important than the colonoscopy itself.

Dr. Kossoff is by far the best gastroenterologist in the Frederick area - and maybe the entire State of Maryland. He has the awards in his office to prove it! I’ve been a patient of Dr. Kossoff for over 8 years, while residing in different locations that are at minimum 50 miles away from his Frederick, MD office. However, Dr. Kossoff’s professionalism, attention to detail and care, along with his affability has made me want to keep Dr. Kossoff as my GI doctor for my Crohn’s Disease without hesitation, no matter my zip code. Case in point, a couple years ago Dr. Kossoff suggested that I have a small-bowel resection to remove the diseased portion of my small/large intestine that was damaged from my Crohn’s, in order to prevent a future blockage. Dr. Kossoff’s insight and recommendation was truly a blessing - since my appendix was removed during the surgery, and a biopsy revealed a small (cancerous) carcinoid tumor within my appendix. If it weren’t for Dr. Kossoff’s proactive and… attentive care for his patients, I am not very certain I would be here today to write this review. I have no doubt Dr. Kossoff provides the same exceptional treatment and care for all of his patients. Thus, I would recommend anyone who needs a GI doctor to visit Dr. Kossoff’s office as soon as possible.

You will walk into a clean, friendly, comfortable lobby for the Dr. Kossof office on Thomas Jefferson Drive. The front desk were organized and the team in the back at checkout were very helpful too. When I am with Dr. Kossoff, I feel that he gives me all of the time needed to finish a proper, thorough visit. Although my appt started a few moments later than scheduled, the attention and time they gave me shuts that thought down instantly. He answers all of our questions and the communications is excellent by him and all the team. I have needed his expertise twice in the last year for a regular checkup and a later highly recommendation visit via my internal doctor. Dr. Kossoff’s attention to detail and experienced found a 1 cm tumor and immediately sent me to one of the world’s best and most experienced surgeon for this procedure among that crowded real estate of the GI area. Dr. Kossoff this very personal and the staff is GREAT

I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Kossoff and his team. I was having gallbladder pain over a long holiday weekend. I called first thing Monday and they got me in later that same day. After hearing my story, they ordered me blood work and an ultra sound STAT through FMH Rosehill. After receiving my results, Dr. Kossoff stopped at nothing to get in touch with me that night. I was already asleep and when he couldn't reach me, he called my husband several times until he answered. My numbers were extremely bad and he wanted me to go to John's Hopkins immediately. He had already contacted a doctor at Hopkins and informed them of my condition. I spent a long night in the ER. However, I was treated and released from Hopkins 3 days later minus a blocked duct and a gallbladder. Dr. Kossoff and his team really listed to my symptoms and went the extra mile to make sure my issue was addressed quickly. I am so glad I made the choice to see Optimal Digestive Care when I did. I would hate to know… what would have happened if I waited to see my GP two days later. Thank you Dr. Kossoff for making sure I received the care I needed promptly and setting me up with some of the best doctors in the world.

It is hard to have confidence in a doctor when you have a long wait time, over an hour, and are sitting in a room that has not been cleaned for many days. The floor was filthy and the furniture was not much better.
