Dr. David Alvin Manke, MD

This is an update on Dr. Manke use of the â??BARD MESH PLUGâ?? on me. I went to another surgeon one year ago to have the plug he put into me removed in Madison by LAP TAPP procedure. The surgeon noted in his operation notes that the plug installed by Manke was atypical use of mesh plugs. The surgeon also noted the scar tissue and plug were the size of his thumb that he removed. No wonder I was in pain for all those years. Avoid this arrogant doctor. He states to bring someone with you so he is not misunderstood. I did bring my wife who was a medical person. I was told the mesh plug was the greatest thing since sliced bread by him and my pain had nothing to do with the mesh plug. Sorry doc you were wrong. Now that the mesh plug has been removed and is not jabbing me like a knife when I bend over my pain is gone in that area.

He took my appendix out in 1994 with no problems. So I went back to him in 2008 to have a double hernia operation. He did one side with plain mesh and I have no problems. However, he did the other side with a mesh flower plug. I went back to him for months after the surgery with no explanation as to why I was having pain in that area. He dismissed me for months. He finally said I will have to go back in and remove it and fix what ever the problem is. Well it is 2012 and I have shooting pains in that side like the plug has torn or has loosened more. I think I will finally go see another surgeon. Sorry doc I think you messed up in the beginning and I am not willing to let you try again.

He is pleasant and friendly, thoroughly professional, technically excellent, and uses state of the art technology. He is candid when discussing outcomes, and provides excellent follow-up care as well.

I've never been treated by any doctor who is very disrespectful and uncaring as this doctor. I seriously believe that he now messed up on my surgery and, instead of trying to correct the problem, he is dismissing the symptoms I've reported and not trying to come up with a solution. Instead all I get are excuses and continue to suffer. He says he's going to do this or that, and does nothing until I have to call and call to get him to do something. I know he's trying to cover up his mistakes. I will now be seeing a different surgeon.
