Dr. David A Mazin, MD

Dr. Mazin is the best doctor that an old woman/man can have.! He’s very kind and has a lot patience with his patients, even though he’s always busy.

I found Dr. Mazin to be knowledgeable about my back problems. He gave me hope that I would be able to get some relief from constant low back pain and hip pain following a hip replacement and spinal fusion. I will be going ahead with some injections: I feel encouraged that I will have a good summer! Thanks to Dr. Mazin!

I went to Dr. Mazin for terrible hip pain. He was on a list of specialty providers affiliated with UMass. It just felt as if he wasn’t particularly interested in getting to the root cause of the pain. I was wondering if it was everything from bursitis to malignancy pain as I’ve known people who were diagnosed with cancer upon seeking help for hip and back pain. Malignancy was only a remote thought. There were other possibilities I had in mind—from weight gain to a childhood accident that left me shorter on one side. He didn’t seem interested in exploring the latter in particular. He didn’t ask questions; I supplied this information myself. Recently I got into more severe pain from the osteoarthritis he did diagnose looking at X Rays. A physical therapist noted the leg length discrepancy he didn’t; felt my hip bones standing behind me; and even did measurements of the two with a tape measure, actually was interested in communicating with me, unlike Dr. Mazin. I’m… much happier with the care I’m receiving from Worcester County Orthopedics and South County Physical Therapy. Can’t recommend this practitioner.

I read with interest the previous reviews regarding the skill and character of D. Mazin. Another Dr. told patient that D. Mazin "was having a bad day." Are you serious? I would submit rather that D. Mazin is having a bad life as i have also been on the receiving end of his bad attitude. UMASS wake up to this menace!!!

I brought my mother to see Dr. Mazin because her PCP just randomly picked a spine specialist for her to see. I went to the appointment with her because she had been suffering for months with back, hip, and leg issues and we needed to get to the source of this pain. We arrived and he had the wrong patients MRI in the exam room. He immediately started treating her horribly, but also dismissed everything she had to say. He then left the exam room and screamed at a staff member in the hallway. He came back in and told us there wasn't anything he could do except cortisone shots. Salt on the wound - another physician came in and apologized for Dr. Mazin, telling us he was having a bad day and was "great guy". Fast forward 3 weeks and she was diagnosed with a broken vertebrae, a broken femur, and had Stage 4 cancer.

Referred by my wife who also suffers chronic back problems, I visited Dr. Mazin regarding pain shooting down my left buttock and thigh. Having previously undergone (successful) surgery to repair a herniated L4/L5 disk, I (unfortunately) know my way fairly well around degenerative spine disease and treatment modalities. Dr. Mazin was the consummate engaged professional at every encounter, from the moment he first walked into the exam room, through diagnosis and treatment (L4/L5 injection) at the hospital. He asked incisive questions, articulated his thoughts and medical opinions with absolute clarity in both lay and medical terms, and all the while expressing genuine sympathy for my condition. My treatment was decided very much through a bilateral dialog between Dr. Mazin and me. He took the time to discuss all the options, fielded all my questions, and together we agreed that the injection best suited my situation. I came away from every consultation with Dr. Mazin with a… feeling of categorical confidence that I was in the hands of a physician who knows his profession at the highest levels of skill. I should also note that Dr. Mazin and his office team (Mary gets a special shout out...) went out of their way to get me fast-tracked through MRI, injection scheduling and insurance approval to get the procedure done prior to my imminent departure on a two-week international trip. Having read some of the complaints about Dr. Mazin's bedside manner, I can only remind others that our doctors are not there to be our friends, or to provide us with a pleasing "customer experience." They are there to provide us expertise about, and treatment for disease. That said, I personally found Dr. Mazin's bedside manner to be impeccable (I also overheard him at the hospital in conversation with an elderly patient suffering from excruciating back pain, and he could not have sounded more empathic!). I highly recommended Dr. David Mazin.

DR.Mazine Is one of the best doctors in the world. I just love ever thing about him , he is a credit to the medical profession. We need more Doctors like him.

Very bad customer service, He denied me a hip injection that had helped in the past, I live with my Sacroiliac hip joint in everyday pain, but I will not go to him again, he gave me no explanation on why he did not do my shot, he asked me if it had helped me in the past and then said well I cant do it today and left the room.

Took 2 weeks to schedule an urgent appointment. I felt as if he was losing money for every min he spent in the room with me. Told me I had to deal with the pain and loss of sensation but to come back if I had some specific symptoms. Provided little or no course of action going forward but did issue a referral for physical therapy after I requested one. The exam room walls are paper thin and I could hear every word he spoke to the previous patient as if I were in the room with them. A very rushed and uncompassionate experience.

I saw Dr. Mazin for spinal stenosis. I was apprehensive at first after reading the reviews. No I know not to believe everything you read.I am a pretty upfront person and shared with him my fears . We had a good talk about people's opinions and how they are formed. I must say after getting to know him and seeing his beautiful smile, talking like a caring Dr. I would recommend him to my friends. Friends that I care about and want the best for. I believe in speaking the truth . I need him to carry me through this diagnosis that I now have . I was given a shot in my back which has helped my pain significantly.
