David Minyard DDS
Born in New Mexico, David Minyard DDS, lived in Northern Arizona on the border of the Navajo Indian Reservation until leaving for college. He attended the University of Arizona, graduating with a Bachelor of Science with honors in 1974. He also received the Outstanding Senior Academic Award. Dr. Minyard received his dental degree from the University of Southern California in 1978, graduating third in his class. He was president of OKU dental honor fraternity from 1977-78.
After graduation from dental school, Dr. Minyard was commissioned as a captain in the US Army. He was sent to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and served the 82nd Airborne and Delta Group, Special Forces.
Following his military service, Dr. Minyard opened a private practice in Yuma, Arizona in 1981. He had privileges at Yuma Regional Medical Center and was a member of the Cleft Palate Team from 1982-2002, providing hospital dental care for cleft patients during and after surgeries.
In 2002, Dr. Minyard …left private practice and moved to Oklahoma, where he became Director of the Ministries of Jesus, a non-profit center that provides free medical, spiritual and emotional care to those in the greater Oklahoma City metro area. Under his direction, Ministries of Jesus grew to include: a free medical clinic, a counseling center, a recovery ministry, and a full service fitness center used by patients, clients and the general public.
In 2005, Dr. Minyard began training in tempromandibular dysfunction, craniofacial pain disorders and dental sleep apnea. He has since accumulated hundreds of hours of continuing education in this field. Dr. Minyard successfully completed an advanced TMD Residency course from TMJ and Sleep Therapy Research in San Diego. Currently, he is a member of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain and is pursuing fellowship status with them.
In his spare time, Dr. Minyard loves to fly fish and has earned his private pilot's license. He and his wife, Martha have two children, and the two best grandchildren in the world.
