Dr. David Albert Olson, MD

After a difficult labor and delivery, I ended up with nerve damage that caused excruciating pain from my left hip to my left foot. It took a week and half to be seen by Dr. Olson. He saw me for a few minutes and ordered a MRI. I was in so much pain (literally crying in the patient room) that my husband and I agreed to skip insurance (which could take a week to verify) & paid for the MRI out of pocket. Results were sent to the doctor in 24 hours. We called 3 days back to back and didn't hear back for a week. The MRI results were normal - not unexpected since I had no back pain and that's what he ordered the MRI for! He then suggested a brain MRI to rule out MS which I felt was absurd and that he hadn't listened to me at all when I told him this condition was a result of my labor and delivery experience. Why he wouldn't recommend a nerve test next is beyond me. I was so frustrated I almost went to the ER instead. I tried one last option and went to an acupuncturist the next day. The… acupuncturist and working with the physical therapist is what has slowly helped me to get better. Dr. Olson was of no assistance and the experience with him and his office was very poor and frustrating.

I've been a patient of Dr Olson's for over 10 years now and I intend to stay with him for a while. With the exception of the wait times which are absolutely horrible (seriously), I have no complaints at all and I love to complain about everything and everyone. Dr Olson is one of the nicest doctors I've ever met. He is incredibly respectful and probably the most observant human being I've ever met. While he is not the type of doctor to talk your ear off by any stretch, you can assure that he is very carefully listening to every word you are saying. There is no doubt in my mind that you get his 100% undivided attention. If you ask him a question, you will get an answer. He is so polite, unassuming, and I dare say cares about his patients so much that sometimes you have to ask very direct questions because I think sometimes he wants to protect the patient even from themselves which could be good or bad depending on the patient I guess. Example, I had to ask what the difference was… between Seizure Disorder NOS (which is what he was checking off) and epilepsy. They both have the same criteria but one saves more space on a medical ID. So I asked him... he got really quiet (even for him), and simply said "...The stigma." He was checking it off because he didn't want me to have that specific stigma on my mind. Probably also why he rarely called the memory blips I had "seizures".... they were always "episodes." I thought he wasn't believing me when really he was trying to put himself in my shoes. My respect for him had to have doubled or tripled that day. That's really rare for a doctor. And that's one of the reasons I go see him.... and only him.

I was referred to him by a neurosurgeon. After I had a lumbar ESI from Dr.Levy at Emory Hospital, I was in horrific pain. Something happened during the procedure and we just didn't know what. I was sent to him hoping he could help. He looked at me puzzled. He said we could run a head CT and blood work, which i already had. I said why would i need a head CT when I told you the cause of the pain was from a lumbar injection. He looked at me puzzled again. I started crying and told him of all the pain I was in and him simply patted me on the shoulder and left me in the room crying and said I hope you feel better soon. WHO DOES THAT???

Dr. Olson was friendly but a disappointing experience. Referred to him for an EMG to rule out peripheral neuropathy. Ordered an MRI of neck & bloodwork & stalled on the EMG. Results: a mild stenosis and blood panel with mild elevated protein size. Stunningly he refused to answer my basic questions about the results of these tests and instead referred me to a Neurosurgeon, and an Oncologist. Both specialists practically laughed when I showed up to their offices. Seek help elsewhere.

Dr. Olson is a doctor that refuse to call his patients after numberous request. After asking his office staff four (4) times to call me back regarding his treatment of my DEMENTIA. I call and voiced how anger, volient and depressed i was with his staff. I begged the staff to call me again, this is the fifth request. Dr. Olson never returned my call. A short time later Dr. Olson office sent me a discharge letter telling me that I would need to find a new doctor. I feel that he took my insurance and charged me for a full work up however he did NOTHING!!! Were can you request that a doctor refund your insurance company for poor service, poor care, and poor manners.

This doctor and office was inefficient. They gor orders faxed for tests totally incorrect. Kept forgetting to get test results from other doctors. The Dr. never explained anything nor gave an idea of what was wrong. After 2 visits and enumerous mistakes on their part - doctor and staff - I decided to go somewhere else.

Nice doctor. Although he still hasn't been able to diagnose my problem, I do think he is a good doctor and listens well. Wait times are terrible though. I waited over an hour one visit and at least 45 minutes the second visit.
