Dr. David Howard Plotkin, MD

I am current client and my experience is very unsettling. Dr Plotkin , throws out Dx that are not factual ie Testing for Lime disease. I am a Nurse by profession and I don't go in the woods ,so Lime disease testing is just plain wrong. Upon 1 visit he was scared to touch my arm , while nothing was wrong with me it became obvious he doesn't care for Black Patients. So I am seeking a PCP who is more mentally capable of Really caring for my needs .

Dr. Plotkin as always took the time to explain my blood and MRI results. He is very thorough and proactive with all my family's needs. Have recommended him to coworkers and friends. Many time he points out reasons and things that could be the cause of an ailment and ways to make it feel better.

The blood test for my pre-op physical was directed by Dr Plotkin. He told me the result was: I was anemic and additionally my Hemoglobin was low (about 50%). I suggested that I should delay the surgery. His advice to me was "don't delay the surgery, you will be alright". This was wrong. I underwent the surgery in a weakened condition. Two months since the surgery I am still in a weakened condition, basically fighting for my life. Thinking about malpractice.

I have been going to Dr. Plotkin at least 8 years. He always knows what is best for me and my ailments. When I leave his office I know I will get better. If he does not know or not his expertise he sends me to specialist who can diagnose my problem.

Front desk never called my lab orders so I had to wait two plus hours for office open the receptionist still couldn't send the orders( the lab is two floors down) . Also while I'm waiting another patient comes in for a 815am appointment ( I have been here since 630 am) and receptionist tells him he won't be seen for at least 45 min because the doctor always runs late because if traffic(if traffic makes you late every day you need to leave earlier to get to work on time I learned this when I was 17 years old....)so no one here has any proffessionalism in my perspective and cannot even complete the most basic of tasks like sending lab orders or even showing up on time. The Lab says dr plotkins office drops the ball a least 3 times a day. Pathetic and scary that these people are practicing medicine.

I know Doc Plotkin for a couple of years now. He is very good and caring person. He takes patients concerns serious. Though sometimes he over react to some situations which can be very annoying.But at the end of the day you could tell that he meant it for the well being of the patient.

I see Dr. Plotkin as a GP, but have also benefited from his knowledge in sports medicine; in both aspects he seems very knowledgeable. In regards to other remarks with the staff's attitude I would like to say that the staff member with the attitude problem (and scheduling etc.) is no longer working at this office; thus the problem is now gone. One of the things I like the most about Dr. Plotkin, is the amount of time that he will spend going over any concerns you may have and actually listening to you. The down side is that this can sometimes make your wait/visit a little longer, but well worth it in my opinion.

Dr. Plotkin is competent, patient, and fairly detailed. If you've ever read about how a doctor's visit should be in a magazine article, that's the kind of care you will receive from Dr. Plotkin.That said, I cannot recommend Dr. Plotkin at all because of the extremely poor quality of his staff. His receptionist is very rude and is on a power trip. Although it is doubtful that she has any education past high school, she tries to make medical decisions. His assistant (who is not a nurse, just an assistant with minimal training) does not understand English very well, although she seems to do her job adequately. If Dr. Plotkin would hire a $12 per hour receptionist instead of an $8 per hour flunky, I'd give him at least four stars.
