Dr Powles has worked with me on my bipolar medication management for several years now. He is a master of pharmacology - he knows how to find the right combination of drugs for his patients and how to minimize side effects. He is very thorough, professional and kind. He remembers what you tell him and takes excellent notes that he frequently refers back to. He quickly responds to your voicemails either later that night or the next day. For these reasons I think he is one, if not the best psychiatrist in San Luis Obispo.

He is very knowledgable and thoughtful in his recommendations. He always makes me feel at ease, and I know he sincerely cares about my mental health. I have been his patient since 2004, and he was instrumental in diagnosing and treating a significant mental problem I had at the time.

He is patient and experienced and he remembers what I say to him. He is very good at finding the right medications that help.

Dr. Powles was my Dr 2 years ago and was always prompt to get back to you if you have medication questions. I really miss him. Moved 2 years ago and having a hard time finding a dr that is thorough and meets my expectations.

Dr Powles has been a great doctor since I started seeing him. He is more of a scientist though. Meaning, he knows treatment possibilities but doesn't always communicate or explain why he prescribes them. Overall, I would refer people to see him.
