Dr. David Michael Rind, MD

I indirectly see Dr. Rind. I see one of his residents. If I’m at the clinic on the same day as Dr. Rind, I’m guaranteed to see him. I live in Rhode Island and I make the trip to BIDMC because I’m dissatisfied with the medical care I have received in Rhode Island. Dr. Rind called me on a Sunday to discuss a test result he was concerned about!!! He is a PHENOMENAL DOCTOR! He’s caring and compassionate and he treats you as a person and doesn’t consider you just another case!!! Seeing a Dr. isn’t a fun experience but I’m treated with respect and dignity by Dr. Rind! I have serious medical issues and Dr. Rind explains things in a way you can understand! Thank You Dr. Rind you truly are one of the best!!!!

I have been lucky to have Dr Rind as my doctor for almost 20 years. When he stopped seeing patients he let me know that I could seek out a new PCP or continue seeing him by requesting one of his residents. I tried getting a new PCP but Dr Rind is kind, caring and respectful and couldn’t be replaced. He has seen me through a number of illnesses and helps me manage my chronic diseases. He has always gone above and beyond what I would have expected from a hospital based GP - calling to check on me when things aren’t going well, coming in on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend to perform a procedure when no one else was available, and even joining my bike ms team with his wife! And it turns out, I LOVE seeing residents. They have a lot more time, go through a comprehensive checklist on every visit, instead of just asking what my concerns are, and they have a lot of the most current medical information. BI is one of the most sought after residency programs in the country, so they’re… incredible people. And after they’re through, I get to meet with Dr Rind, who must read through my file before he comes in because he always asks questions related to other providers I’ve recently seen. He also takes the time to explain exactly what and why to his residents without being condescending, and they often openly ask questions in front of me, something I have not seen with other doctors. I feel incredibly lucky to have Dr Rind as my doctor and will stay with HCA as long as he’s there.

Doctor was a jerk. Called in by resident to look at my ear. Treated me as though I was making up symptoms. Told me I could fly with the ear blockage I experienced but was possible that the ear drum could burst. Said when I returned from travel, if blockage still existed, I should get referred to ENT. I asked if, perhaps, I should try to see ENT before travel, especially since he had warned about possible ear drum issue. He didn't think it was necessary. Told me to take Sudafed! Turns out I have loss of hearing in that ear that quite likely could have been treated and cured if he had sent me to the ENT immediately. It has now been a few months since the visit and was told by ENT specialist that it is too late. There are words to describe doctors like Dr. Rind, but I don't feel they are appropriate for this review.

This physician is myopic in his care and assessment of patients. As opposed to completing a thorough exam, Dr. Rind focuses ONLY on the presenting problem. His affect is flat, and he has completely no bedside manner. My recommendation for Dr. Rind would be that he give up patient care entirely and put his efforts into Informatics; a place where he does not have to share his vapid personality with patients and deprive them of preventative care that they deserve.
