Dr. David Erich Roth, MD

Dr. Roth has helped my 8 year old immensely. After years of anxiety and obsession, he seems to have properly diagnosed her and we've started OTC, CBT and prescription interventions that have made a huge difference in all our lives.

I really highly recommend Dr. Roth! He is very knowledgeable and caring doctor. It was truly a blessing to have found him. He has made a difference in our child ! I just had my first appointment with Dr. Roth. It was for an evaluation of Adult ADHD. I am a Veteran and I went to see my Psychiatrist at the VA Medical Center on O'ahu. I asked the Psychiatrist if I could possibly have Adult ADHD and I was told that I didn't have ADHD without the doctor even doing an assessment. I decided to do some research and find the best specialist on the island who could do a proper evaluation. Dr. Roth's office has a comfortable ambiance and his staff were friendly and helpful. Dr. Roth is very easy to talk to and I felt like he really listened to me. After being disappointed with the mental health services I have received in the past I can say that I am extremely satisfied with my experience with Dr. Roth and will continue to see him for treatment.Highly recommended!

Dr. Roth is a wonderful physician. He is warm, friendly and very caring. He is also amazingly knowledgeable and extremely competent.

I took my seven-year-old son to Dr. Roth after his school counselor suggested that he might have ADHD. Dr. Roth was wonderful! He turned what could have been a traumatic experience into a fun and educational one. He engaged my son well, which is not always easy to do. He explained everything to my husband and me in great detail and answered all our questions patiently. Dr. Roth provided us with treatment options, both pharmaceutical and natural ones. He went over all the possible side effects of medicines and never tried to push any drugs on us. I felt like he valued our opinions and devised a treatment plan that we were comfortable with. I would highly recommend Dr. Roth to anyone looking for a knowledgeable compassionate doctor.

My son had struggled with assimilation into society since he was able to walk. At 5 years old, he was diagnosed with ADHD and given Concerta. There was little difference in his behavior and academics. I continued with the treatment for 3 years until I could not stand to watch my child's continuous decline. Thank God we found Dr. Roth. He was able to get us in for an office visit within the week. He spent 2 hours with us evaluating my son's behavior and obtaining pertinent information from me. He diagnosed my son as bi-polar and OCD. He told us to stop the ADHD meds immediately, prescribed Abilify, Gabba Calm (over the counter supplement), and vitamins with Omega-3s. I have a brand new child! My son actually likes his medication, whereas he hated the others and would not want to take them because "they made him crazy." My son has been under Dr. Roth's care for 3 months. My son has been doing well. Initially, the visits were close together, but Dr. Roth's philosophy is to… get in, fix it, and get out. When we do have our periodic visit, Dr. Roth attempts to engage my son with humor. He has a wonderful bedside manner, extremely knowledgable, and just amazing all the way around. Our last visit, I pointed out that my son kind of mumbles or slurs at times. He told me that could be a side effect of the Abilify of excess saliva. He asked if my son had any allergies, which I affirmed. He recommended an over the counter allergy medication that will address the allergies and have a further benefit of drying up his mouth. Dr. Roth thinks outside the box in a world of doctors that just don't seem to have two minutes to spend with their patients. I cannot sing Dr. Roth's praises enough. I used to look at my son's future and know that it was not going to be good. Today, I enjoy the time with my son and see his future as bright.If you are looking for a child psychiatrist and you are at the end of your rope, this man will change your life and the life of your child.

This doctor was highly recommended but because he does not take my insurance and his services were expensive I waited three months to see him. When I finally saw Dr. Roth (after seeing two other psychiatrists who were not helpful at all) I found him amazing. For the first time in my life someone made sense out of it all for me and did not just blame my parents. He did not push any drugs on me either. He was very patient and understanding yet firm. He has helped me make major changes in my life and I am so grateful.

Dr. Roth is the only child psychiatrist, out of 6 I have taken my daughter to who has properly diagnosed her!!! He has been able to help my daughter get better and help our family cope with her illness. I am angry that I have wasted precious time and money on all the other ones but I feel blessed that we have Dr. Roth in our lives.
