Dr. David Ryback, PhD

When I first went to Dr. Ryback I was suicidal and felt completely helpless. In fact I had been suicidal on and off fro more than 20 years. I had been to several other therapist during that time but never trusted them or truly opened up to them. With Dr. Ryback it was different. He was very patient with me. The first session he asks a lot of questions to get your background. After that his whole approach is based on listening to and empathizing with you. He knows when to listen and when to nudge you in the right direction. He has literally saved my life. I am pleased to say that I have not been suicidal in several years despite going through some pretty tough situations. I can't thank him enough for how much he has helped me improve my life.

I was a patient/client of Dr. Ryback for about a year while I lived in Atlanta. During that time, we would meet on a weekly basis. My therapy experience with Dr. Ryback was great. He provided a safe space where I could come to discuss whatever issues were present at the time. I felt very comfortable discussing all types of issues with him. In addition, he incorporated valuable insight from his 20+ years of therapy experience and his experience in emotional intelligence work to help me gain insight to my issues. I found Dr. Ryback easy to work with, knowledgeable and flexible in his scheduling. He was instrumental in helping me deal with my personal challenges as I worked out of a toxic situation in my corporate job. His experience shone through in all our sessions.

I have been a patient of Dr. Ryback for many years. I am very surprised to read some of these reviews. He literally saved my life. I came to him desperately suicidal. He listened to everything I had to say and insisted that I come back again that week. He is very patient but also very honest. He has a style where he listens and asks questions. He does this so that he can understand and empathize with you. He will not directly tell you what to do most of the time but will help you to consider options and help you to see realities you may not see yourself. He can be tough when he needs to be. I had been to many psychologists in my life prior to seeing Dr. Ryback. I never truly felt comfortable with them and therefore never benefited much from the experiences. My depression is now under control. I haven't been suicidal in a couple of years (after battling regular episodes for nearly 30 years), and I travel 2 hours to go see him. I have never heard of a psychologist who cares… as much as he does or uses the same style. I highly recommend you give him a try.

To me Dr. Ryback has been very helpful figuring out where I am with my issues, with helpful, good probing questions. He is always very thoughtful and present. I always feel like I am talking to a friend who has my best interest in mind - very professionally of course. I have never felt intruded upon but always supported. I can definitely recommend Dr. Ryback as a personal therapist.

I found Dr. Ryback approachable, warm and friendly--he made it easy for me to share my problems. He has also been very flexible in terms of scheduling and is very open to changes. On the other hand, he is always on time--he says he doesn't like to keep people waiting. There's never been a problem with scheduling with him. He seems to be very experienced, and open to looking at things from different perspectives. In other words, very open-minded. I always felt comfortable bringing up my own point of view, and he always made me feel understood.

After one visit I saw a man who needed more help than me. He never has time, rude and pushy, very mean disposition, quick to condemn, and simply Aragant Not very friendly which is a must for patients seeking therapy against any types of abuse. Don't expect any return calls if He tells you He's with a client, Your problems are his prey without any concern of your well being, as most doctors, but only what He can get out of you. I wouldn't recommend wasting your money on this no result therapist and use it in a reputable professional with results. His therapy room is nasty and unkept in addition showing his no concern for organization.

As a woman, I felt treated with disrespect, dismissed. I also asked him simple questions about therapy, which he did not answer. He also did not seem to understand my question about a treatment plan. I think his license should be questioned.
