Yeah I agree that the negative reviews seem very weird and not at all what my experience was. Maybe some people just have an axe to grind; I dunno. From the first time I called him, even though he didn’t have an immediate opening, he took the time to talk to me, listening patiently and making some suggestions about what I could do. He asked if there was anything else he could do for me. When he did have an opening I came to see him and he was warm, welcoming and friendly. And he knows his stuff as a CBT expert. I felt I was in excellent hands as he showed me how I could help myself to feel better. We wrapped up therapy and I came away feeling very positive about my experience. Big thumbs up for Dr. Tolin.

I really liked working with Dr. Tolin. He was able to explain things in a way that made sense, with no fancy jargon. He helped me see that what I was experiencing was pretty common and that there were some concrete things that I could do about it. And he's just incredibly welcoming and patient. If I could give him six stars, I would.

Wow. I have no idea what the previous reviews are about. I don't know these peoples' experiences, so I can't judge. But my experience with Dr. Tolin was great. Yes, he is very accomplished and on TV and stuff like that, but I didn't get even a whiff of arrogance. Quite the opposite-- he comes across as very humble and down to earth; not just an excellent therapist but also a very kind and decent person. He calmly explains his conceptualization of the problem and makes thoughtful and spot-on recommendations. He is professional and polite, with a subtle sense of humor that allows him to challenge you when you need it, without coming across as threatening. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends or relatives.

Self centered and self serving petson. More concerned about his "status", so called fame and exploiting patients. Was no help whatsoever and quite rude despite all my efforts to seek help.

After a thorough interview with his colleague and then meeting Dr. Tolin--the meeting seemed to be using me for his own education and research purposes. There was no follow-up and no help given to me. I resent the fact that he exploited suffering patients for his own use and "celebrity" on a television show he was a part of. What a disgrace. Other people I know who have seen him say he was ineffective with them. Lots of arrogance and self promotion but not much help or respect for the dignity of suffering patients. When I called him once he was dismissive, rude, and arrogantly annoyed. Just avoid him.
