Dr. David Bryan Wait, MD

I've probably left a total of like 3 reviews in my life, but this guy was horrible through and through. I have complicated amnesia and he wouldn't allow me to be accompanied by someone who knows my history. Didn't believe that I don't remember my childhood. Didn't seem to even believe I struggle with any amnesia. Before I even explained my symptoms of anything, he decided I probably have BPD. He cut me off with EVERY symptom I tried to explain and threw in assumptions that fit with BPD instead of listening to what the symptoms actually are. I've been formally diagnosed with OCD, but he asked when I "stopped showing symptoms of OCD"? He just doesn't seem to believe I have OCD, any amnesia, or any other concerns. He decided I have BPD and wouldn't listen to anything else. And he said that my depression and anxiety are probably just because of sleep apnea, which I'm not diagnosed with. The whole like 40 minutes was filled with wild assumptions like that and him disregarding everything I… said. Oh, and he doesn't even know the term 'masking', which should have told me from the start he has NO current education. Don't bother with him, even if he's the only one nearby taking patients. There's a reason he's the only one with availability.

Great experience, doesn't just push meds

Dr. Wait did his job. Spent 40 minutes with me after being 45 minutes late. Did nothing but change my prescriptions an Bill me. I spent 20 years in the military and spent more time in the latrine each day than he spent with me on two different appointments. My problems have only gotten worse. I feel like an MRE (Mental case Ready to Explore). I feel lost and my problems exasperated since he has taken my case. He took me off meds that really were hard to get off of without preparing me, or my wife for. I've had two violent outbursts that I've never had before. This is not me. I'm drinking more and handling less since I felt combat. I hope he steps up and takes an active role in helping me. I'm really hurting.....

Arrogant and won't listen to my concerns. I became worse instead of better.

WORST PSYCHIATRIST EVER!

My intake appt was scheduled for 1:00. I arrived with plenty of time to fill out paperwork before being seen. At 1:15 I was taken back for vitals. At 1:20 I was shown to his office. At 1:23 his cell phone rang and he left the appt for 10 minutes to take an "emergency" call. He disregarded most everything I told him about my personal history and experience after landing on his beliefs as to why I was struggling currently. His recommendation was to quit taking my medications and learn to live with my anxiety and depression. Against my better judgment I followed his advice. Upon returning for my 1st follow up appt, he refused to see me with my partner. Even though I told his nurse I was in a bad place and couldn't do it without her. I asked to reschedule a time she could be there and he refused to see me again if I wouldn't see him alone. I feel that he didnt take anything I said into consideration. And I am dumbfounded how he could let me leave his office in the state of mind I was… in without seeing me or at the very least rescheduling so I could come back with my partner. He made me feel so uncomfortable the first appt by belittling my experiences based on something he read. I would not have even considered going back, but he is literally the only person in a 100 mile radius who was taking new patients.

Dr. Wait has been a good choice for me. I was seeing another doctor for seven years, and for insurance reasons had to leave him. Dr. Wait is one of the few in the area that accepts Medicare, but that aside, he has been attentive and supportive. Yes, he is direct and to the point. Med management is the main reason I go to him, but at the same time, I have a good relationship with him. If you are looking for someone to poor your heart out too, find a Therapist, not a Psychiatrist.

Worst doctor I have ever been to. He was rude from the first visit. I toughed it out for more than a year and got worse. I've seen many doctors in my years (I'm not young), but never has a doctor made me feel so bad about myself or tried to waste so much money.

Dr Wait hasn't been helpful in my treatment at all. In the beginning I believed him to be helpful but as our treatment continued to be less and less helpful. I felt he did not listen to me or take my concerns seriously. I will not recommend him and now have a psychiatrist that actually listens to me and my recovery is finally getting somewhere.

I have been a patient of Dr Wait for at least 10 years. I didn't choose him and wouldn't recommend him. When my psychiatrist died they gave my files to him and I never felt that he was actually interested in helping me. It was all about finding medication and he has prescribed at least 10 different ones. I have found that he is concern about just giving you medication and not telling you about other options. He's very smug in his approach and doesn't really seem to listen or later it seems to be more about how many appointments he can get. The last straw was when I went to see him...desperately seeking help. It was obvious that I was severely depressed. But he looked on the computer and gave me a 9 question screening that anyone could do...and then said "yep..you're depressed". that was the final straw I'm looking for someone else.
