Dr. David Elliot Westerman, MD

Dr. Westerman is what I think of when I think of a great doctor. He is kind, smart, patient, and understanding of how real life works in the area of CPAP usage and smoking issues. I would go to him with any lung/breathing/sleep problems.

In 2005, after a film slipped to my chest, during a scan of another part of my body, and my upper left lung lobe showed a tiny 3 mm spot on that part of my lung, the radiologist called and asked me if I had a CPAP or sleep doctor. I provided Dr. Westerman's name who I'd started seeing about 10 years earlier. Dr. Westerman was given given the film and asked to watch that spot on my lung in future years. Each year, since then, Dr. Westerman ordered a CT scan of my chest until 2015 when the spot started to grow. Dr. Westerman called me in and suggested I see his friend, a local respected pulmonary surgeon, and after further tests, cancer was confirmed and I underwent surgery. Thanks to Dr.; Westerman's continuing care and decisive action, and the thoracic surgeon's skill, my life was saved and I'm still fortunate to still be seeing Dr. Westerman for his skills in watching my chest is my Sleep doctor and good friend. Dr David is excellent. He spends lot of time with the patient to know the root cause of the problem and goes thru previous reports line by line. I've not seen a doctor like him before. He is very good. I recommend this doctor.

I was very pleased with my visit with Dr. Westerman for all of my visits. He has great bedside manners & takes the time to explain everything in layman's terms. I would have definitely recommended him before I received my EOB and bill. Dr. Westerman told me his office employee would check with my insurance & if anything was going to be out of my pocket, she would let me know prior to my overnight sleep study. So when I received a bill I am financially unable tp pay & if I would have known this beforehand, I would have had to waited to save to pay for it. When I called to discuss this with the office personnel, her responses were that it wasn't the offices responsibility even though the doctor himself said they would let me know prior to the study. Unfortunately, I would have to tell this story before recommending him. I was very impressed with him, his ability to diagnose and communicate easily with me. However, if you do go to see him, don't trust that the office will let you know if… you have to pay anything out of pocket because that is not what I experienced. And the same office employee said she isn't responsible for letting me know the cost so make sure you take your insurance & cost of the study in your own hands. I was naive and believed what I was told. I have learned a very expensive lesson.
