Dr. David John Yeh, MD

I never actually met Dr. Yeh, instead his PA Justin and nurse Jennifer met with me. They were smooth, professional, comfortable and did a great job of selling me an injection that I did not need performed in their office by a "specialist who flies in on Saturdays". When I shared with my reservations, both Justin and Jennifer became patronizing to me. I got a second (and third) opinion at UCLA and MAYO where I was told the injections will not help and I needed surgery. After reviewing what they said - and how they said it, here's no possible way I would let Yeh's team work on me. You are better off to go to Stanford or UCLA for neuro work.

I recently had a Microdiscectomy procedure with Dr. Yeh. Dr. Yeh and his assistants/staff went above and beyond what was expected as this was my second Microdiscectomy. The first surgery was with a well-known Surgeon in Dallas, Texas and a few years after that surgery I began to have reoccurring problems in the same exact area. Three years after the surgery, a MRI showed I had the same exact disc herniation as before the surgery. I struggled with off-and -on back pain until 9 years had passed since the first surgery and I got another MRI. The herniation was now larger and needed surgery again. Dr. Yeh was chosen to do the surgery as he is highly recommended by his peers and patients. Dr. Yeh and staff were able to fit me into their schedule and within a week I was in surgery. The surgery was planned to take between 45 minutes to an hour. The herniation had adhered to the nerve and after an extra 45 minutes of surgery time, Dr. Yeh and his assistant, PA Justin,… separated the herniated disc from the nerve and the herniation was removed. I was not awake during the surgery, but I was told that the operation room burst into cheers the moment the herniation and the nerve were separated. Dr. Yeh and staff were very helpful with instructions for post-surgery care and with exercises to make sure the surgery and my future back health would be the best it can be. This type of surgery you should be able to go home the same day after the surgery. I did travel to San Luis Obispo from Dallas on a Friday and was back home in my bed Sunday night. I was contacted by Dr. Yeh and his staff multiple times after the surgery to just check up on me to see how I was doing. I can't thank Dr. Yeh and staff enough for all aspects of this process from consultation, recommendation of procedure, admittance, pre-surgery, surgery, post-surgery instructions and follow-ups. Thank you as I can now lead a normal, pain-free life doing the things I want to do with my family and friends. Randall Dunn

Dr. Yeh has performed two separate artificial disc replacement surgeries on me. This is the second day following my second surgery and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I recommend him and his wonderful office to everyone needing neurological surgery or treatment advice.

When I first saw Dr. Yeh my quality of life was practically non existent. Due to a major spinal trauma I could hardly walk, eat, sleep, really live at all. At 26 this wasn't exactly the life I had envisioned for myself. Dr. Yeh listened to all of my frustrations, laid out my options, and proceeded with surgery. He did an incredible job not just with the spine itself but with hardly leaving a scar! I am very grateful for all that he has done.

I believe Dr Yeh is one of the best doctors in SLO county. After 20 years of being misdiagnosed with various ailments he was the only one who found out what my problem was……3 crushed disks in my neck! He literally saved my life. Thank God for doctor Yeh

Dr.Yeh's staff is welcoming and friendly. Dr. Yeh's kindness is equal to his medical skills, knowledge and professionalism . I recommend him to anyone who is chosing a Neurosurgeon.

Although a neurosurgeon, Dr. Yeh is very cautious about doing any spinal surgery, both because of the risks involved as well as the modest improvement likely to happen, at least in my case. Instead, he has recommended alternatives - physical therapy and acupuncture - which have greatly relieved my symptoms. Dr. Yeh's bedside manner is very relaxed and warm. He is not rushed which makes it easy to raise any concern I have. All the ratings below are at the well-deserved five level,

Dr Yeh has treated my mother with the up most respect. He listens to her problems and addresses them with professionalism. He developed a case plan with the option of surgery if the first doesn't work. He genuinely cares about his patients concerns. I would highly recommend him.
