Dr. Dawn Marie Frankwick, MD

She made the experience of having twins a lot less scary with her information, expertise and reassurance. I was an older mom, having twins. She helped with anticipation (fear) of twins and everything that entailed. I felt well taken care of.

OB for an uncomplicated twin pregnancy. I chose her because she can do breech for Twin B, and was willing to wait to at least 40 weeks. She was pleasant, and very nice when my son came to appts. She was mostly gentle but very cold hands on checkups. She was very direct with her opinions and preferences. Visits were short. 10 min. She forgot details sometimes, such as advising me to eat more red meat even though I'm vegetarian (not giving other iron options). She also had a substitute assistant who didn't realize I was pregnant with twins. She did not help me find current literature when I had questions, such as placental degradation, and when I asked about evidence for inducing twins. (I know how to read literature, she said "there is nothing I can tell you.") She used phrases like "you have everything to lose" when trying to convince me for an induction. This is a a phrase I think no pregnant woman should ever have to hear. Ever. Also, I had no "red flags" on any measure ever… taken. She offered an induction in 2 days at week 39, as her way of telling me she would be going on vacation for 6 days over my Due date. (Surprise! This is after knowing my birth plan preference for an unmedicated delivery.) She did not have another specific dr in her place, and would not "let" me meet any of the other OBs on call first to ask about their twin or breech experience. Only told me "they are qualified." She also scheduled an automatic induction for when she would be back (day after my due date), without even a check-up or asking me. I never consented to this, as I'd only have an induction if there was a documental medical necessity. I ended up switching providers while I was in labor at home, to a new hospital, where I delivered with mild medication, vaginal with Baby B breech with a midwife and awesome OB. Born 2 hrs short of due date. Both healthy, spontaneous labor. Also she kept telling me she was "sure" they'd both be over 6 lbs, but only one was. I kept telling her I thought they'd be smaller, and besides prediction data aren't that reliable anyway according to the research literature. OVERALL: Dr Frankwick was pleasant enough, but a very "stereotypical" impersonal OB whom I thought acted very unprofessionally, unethically, and irresponsibly especially in the end of my pregnancy. I would expect at least communication to me that she'd be out of town, not 8 days before I was due with twins. I know she knew these plans WELL ahead of time, and never told me. When I chose her at 12 weeks, that was my first question, and she assured me she'd be in town. An emergency is one thing, but I perceive this as a deliberate way to try to get me into a "scheduled" birth with an aggressive induction. (more convenient for them). Good luck if this is your provider. Office staff mostly great. Nurse/assistants nice, but sometimes didn't use best practices with patient communication (e.g., they "assumed" I'd want an automatic C-S and made comments as such.)

Dr. Frankwick is amazing. She's professional, clinical, and no-nonsense. I'm not a hand-holding wishy-washy kind of woman, and even pregnant I didn't want to be treated like a baby. Dr. Frankwick matched my personality perfectly; get me in, check me out, let me get back to my life.
