Dr. Dawn Raenel Miesner, DO

Dr. Miesner is a caring physician who embraces the definition of a true family doctor. She is a kind, compassionate lady with an interest in supporting large families, breastfeeding and natural medicine. Truly, she loves what she does! She was so helpful to us when she was in solo practice. Our family is forever grateful.

Dr. Miesner was our doctor until she moved about a year ago. She built rapport with each member of our family (husband, three teenage kids, and myself). We liked her very much, and would recommend her to others. She really took her time with each of us and talked everything over with us. I especially liked her desire to help us naturally as much as possible, but with a willingness to use meds when necessary. Dr. Miesner would try several things and then, if the problem wasn't resolved, she did not hesitate to refer us to a specialist. Dr. Miesner would call us the next day after we had been in her office with a health issue. She would follow-up to find out how we were doing and talk with us about next steps in our health care. One inconvenience that we experienced was that we usually had to wait up to an hour to get in and see her, but we felt that was worth it because of the quality time she spent with us when it was our turn.

As a Mother of Six Children finding a Physician who listens and works with me was at the top of my list. It was easy to ask my friends who are wonderful Moms. They directed me to Dr. Miesner. Dr. Miesner was not only intelligent, and figured problems out quicker than any Dr. we had ever had, but she was kind! My Niece had a problem that had gone undiagnosed for 2 years and I talked my sister into taking her to Dr. Miesner, she figured it out and directed her to the correct specialist for a blood disorder. I find it difficult to put into words how I feel about her as a doctor........wonderful, kind, a loving Mom and the best Doctor we have had in our Family.

Dr. Meisner is truly a "family" doctor. She was our family doctor for 16 years before a recent move to the state of Ohio. She cared our family as patients and as people. When it comes to your health , your relationship with your doctor is so very important. Among skilled physicians, she is above her peers in large part because of her ability to build a caring and compassionate relationship with her patients. She immediately felt like a trusted friend. Living in a major city for more than a year now we have yet to find a Doctor that measures up to Dr. Meisner and the exceptional health care she provided.

I first went to Dr. Miesner after struggling for answers with other doctors regarding an undiagnosed thyroid condition. Dr. Miesner was very approachable, listened to me, set me up for appropriate tests, diagnosed and began treatment for my condition in a very timely manner. I couldn't have asked for a more compassionate, knowledgeable physician during a difficult time. I appreciated the time she took with me. I never felt rushed and always had her undivided attention. She was open to referring/consulting with specialists when needed and was comfortable with patient involvement regarding treatment. I'm very glad to have had her for my family's medical care. If she were to return to our or a neighboring community, I wouldn't hesitate to have her as my primary care physician once again.

When you are in Dr. Miesner's exam room, you are the only patient she has. She listens and answers questions and concerns without glancing at her watch. Until she left our area, she was our family physician and she managed the care of all of us (age 50 - age 7) in an individualized, compassionate, professional manner. As a matter of fact, if it weren't for her, I wouldn't have had my last 2 children. Even though I was no longer 25, she assured me that if we wanted a bigger family, it was entirely possible. I appreciate the philosophical approach of a DO as compared to an MD and she was an excellent physician for our family.

While Dr. Miesner was a caring and listening doctor, spending time with her patients, I was not satisfied overall with many things. Both myself and my spouse ran into huge issues of getting accurate diagnosis on health problems we had. Sometimes she'd send us to expensive specialists before tests were completed--and in most cases those specialists were not needed. She dropped our insurance and never informed us, and her office never double-checked with our insurance to check to see if some of the specialists she referred us to were covered. Billing was horrible, we'd receive bills for office visits almost a year after the visit. In the years that I had her as a doctor she went through many nurses and office people. Honestly, I overheard many of her nurses complaining about her late arrivals to the office that weren't medical related and dropping things on them unexpectedly--patients should not have to hear this stuff.For a health condition I suffered through for almost 3 years, I went… out on my own and found a specialist, who then proceeded to fast-track me through to get better. While this was something outside of the realm of Dr. Miesner's practice, she appeared not to know how to proceed but to prescribe one thing after another that didn't help me and only made it worse. She did the same to my spouse, and I fear it might have done more damage had I not interfered and insisted on a second opinion.I appreciate a doctor who spends time with patients, gets to know them and such, but when you're on a time table and you spend 2 hours in the waiting room, then another hour or so in the exam room before you see a doctor, it gets irritating.This is the 3rd osteopathic physician I've used and frankly, I don't think I'll ever use another one again. I'm a firm believer in treating the root cause and not prescribing out the nose to treat every little symptom. And trying to cover all bases by sending patients to this specialist and that when there are no symptoms, tests come back to clear of any perceived symptoms, and age factors that don't warrant the need is outrageous and horribly expensive to the patient.I'll end with this. Do your homework, be proactive in your own health, and never, never assume a doctor is doing their job correctly. Get a second or third opinion before diving into whatever a medical professional tells you.

Yeah, you sometimes will have to wait depending on what she is dealing with but when you get in, she will give you all the time you need. Lets face it, if you have a problem wouldnt you want a doctor who takes the time to diagnose and treat your problem thoroughly and correctly? Nowadays you spend 20 minutes with a nurse who takes your vitals and 3 minutes with a doctor who rushes you out the door since theyre working at piecework rate. NOT HERE! She is caring, compassionate and has great follow up. From the old school of physician care, something you rarely see nowadays She takes the time to get to know you, your problems (both medical and other) and has a great personality.If youre looking for a doctor who gets you in and out and fires out scripts shes not for you but if you want quality healthcare and a reasonable price its worth every minute of the wait. I highly recommend her.
