Dean Karahalios, MD

I wanted to come back 7 years after my spine surgery and say that Dr. Dean Karahalios is a great dr. and I would recommend him for any back spine surgery. I am a 63 almost 64 yr old woman now who in 2013 needed back surgery for stenosis. My pain started with sciatica in my left side and eventually I felt numbness in my leg and toes on my right side. I am 5' 2" inches and weigh 115 lbs. I was quite active as I cleaned homes and walked my dog quite a bit. I was just today recommending Dr. Dean to a friend. It was a hard surgery and the pain was quite rough, but I knew that if I didn't do anything I would be worse as I got older. I had to take 3 months off of work and I put all my energy into recovery and rehab. I joined a hot pool exercise club and did everything I was told to do. Moments before the surgery I started crying and was so scared and the Dr. reassured me that we could not do the surgery if I had any doubts...but I knew I couldn't live with the pain I had and lead a full… life. I still clean houses and walk my dog and occasionally have some back pain..but I know that I am in much better shape that if I had never had the surgery. So thank you Dr. Dean Karahalios. Dr. Karahalios, thank you so much for the excellent work you did with my back. I’ve been struggling with this problem for about 22 years and I felt a huge positive difference right after the surgery. What I was going through prior to the procedure was quite a challenge I never new how many things were being effected by the problem. I never new if I was gonna have good day or a bad one. Being an electrician is hard enough with a good back and even harder with problematic back. I’m looking forward to a positive, productive and strengthening rehab towards getting my active life back. I was extremely pleased with the care!

I saw three surgeons and Dr. K and his staff were the best by far! The Dr. and especially his nurse Allie were so nice to deal with. Any concerns of mine were addressed easily through the app and I never felt like anyone was ever to busy to help and explain things as I went through the experience of getting back surgery. I highly recommend Dr. K. and his staff, a great group of people and a highly skilled surgeon!

He took the time to explain everything and made sure I felt comfortable. He’s great!

I wouldnt let this jerk work on a frog,did unnecessary surgery that left me damaged for life. I hope he gets a taste of what he does to patients someday.

First met with Dr.. Dean and his team and was told about the surgery that was needed. Anxious at first but the preparation guidelines helped me focus on what to expect before and after surgery. Thanks to the team, I am getting better each day, knowing that if I have any questions they are available to assist.

I'm so thankful that I was introduced to this excellent caring and very compassionate group of staff. I love the fact after my surgery and I came home, Dr. Karahalios/staff emails me daily checking on my progress and any worries / concerns I may have. I'm able to communicate with them rather it's after hours or doing regular business hours. I truly believe they have my best interest in hand. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

After 3 prior spinal surgeries with a ‘well known’ and highly respected Orthopaedic Surgeon, I had very little improvement and continual regression in my lumbar region. All of this was adding up to more surgeries and pain management. At the request of a good MD friend, he asked me to please meet with neurosurgeon Dr. Dean Karahalios to get his professional opinion and ideas for my spinal issues. After one appointment Dr. K requested two tests that I had yet to do but that made perfect sense to help pinpoint problem areas. Between these new test results and viewing my prior scans and prior surgical notes, Dr. K was more than confident that he could perform new procedures that would not only fix the mistakes of my prior surgeries but also stabilize, decompress and clean out problematic areas. It has been two weeks since Dr. K completed my surgery. Yes the surgery itself was intricate, delicate and painful, but the immediate relief, rate of healing and my mobility progress are… unbelievable. From the first post-op walk with out any referring pain or spasms to being back to work full time in less than two weeks is amazing. Even pain resulting from first two surgeries is now gone. I am hopeful, and dedicated, that this improvement will continue to the point where my back was before any injuries. **Lesson learned; don’t use just any surgeon for something as intricate, delicate, and complex as the human nervous system. **
