Dr. Deborah Gardner Nixon, MD

Rude (made negative comments about another Doctor) and could not get a call back with results. Started calling after not hearing from Dr. Nixon about three weeks after visit. Call close to ten times before lying to get an actual response from assistant. Had to tell her she would not be paid until I get some kind of results to my visit. Got a reply the next day with no real answer to my issues and told I would have to come back to retest. Went to different office and issue was solved in a less than ten minute session. Would NEVER recommend Dr. Nixon.

Appreciate Dr. Nixon's availability and treatment of skin- irritation on my daughter

I am a current patient and have been seen by Dr. Nixon on several occasions. I have consistently received accurate information and she always takes the time to explain procedures and answer questions. I also see her Esthetician who is very knowledgeable about skin care as well as cosmetic procedures and products. My only issue is the procedure for follow-up contact. In general, I do think the MD should provide the follow-up phone call for test results, particularly if a test result/biopsy is concerning. Although, this was not the case for me, I am not sure if the doctor always calls herself in these circumstances. Overall, I must say I have had very good care with the office and Dr. Nixon.

I will not be returning. I was a patient for a few years. Even traveled to her new location when she moved. The last 2 visits, I paid my $80+ co-pay and she brushed off a lump that formed under my skin that I was concerned about. The most recent visit she finally said she would biopsy it; however, she took a spot NEXT to my concerned area. When I called to express my frustration,I had to leave a message on an answering machine. Her nurse returned my phone call and left a message to call back again. Unacceptable. A week later, her nurse called again to give me some not-so-great news. Would've been nice to actually be able to speak to Dr. Nixon about this. So...I'm now in search of a new doctor. There are other things: waiting in the paper shirt in a freezing room, enduring liquid nitrogen blasts and not given a prescription to be proactive to prevent issues, etc.

I was a patient fora pproximately three years. Dr. Nixon diagnosed me with two different conditions,however when the results of both biopsies came back positive she did not contact me herself. I was informed by her nurse. I was not given the courtesy of her calling herself so I could direct my questions,concerns etc.Furthermore on both occasions she recommended I see experts in the perspective fields; one in Chapel Hill (who had retired by the time I made the three hour drive) and the second who is booked until 2013. I have decided to seek services else where.

For a medical doctor, I expected her to know what kind of rash I was experiencing. She said she had never seen this kind of rash. Really?? She's a dermatologist and has never seen it? I asked her what she thought it might be. She said, " I SAID I don't know...let's not jump to conclusions. She did a biopsy and as I was asking her more questions, she was walking out the door. I walked in the office at 2:15. I was back in my car at 2:35.
