Debra Bergstrom, NP-C, DCNP

Debra Bergstrom, NP-C, DCNP, is a nationally certified nurse practitioner with decades of experience in critical care, internal medicine, gerontology, and dermatology. She graduated as class Valedictorian from the University of Texas El Paso College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 1985 and began her career in Critical Care, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Neurosurgery at Barrow Neurological Institute/St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix.

In 1992, Debra earned her Master of Science in Critical Care Nursing from Arizona State University, where she was honored as the Outstanding Graduate Student. She went on to serve as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Hospital Educator for Critical Care before completing her Post-Master’s Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1996. At St. Joseph’s Hospital, she became the first nurse practitioner to be granted hospital privileges, working in an internal medicine group that also trained residents. She later joined a …gerontology practice in Sun City, Arizona, further broadening her expertise in managing chronic and complex health conditions.

In 2002, Debra founded Neighborhood Family Practice in Scottsdale, Arizona, with a focus on providing comprehensive care for adults with long-term medical needs. Her career then took a new direction in 2009 when she was recruited by a colleague to retrain in dermatology. Relocating to a rural underserved area, she received extensive training from colleagues in the medical and surgical management of skin diseases and skin cancers.

Today, Debra brings her expertise in dermatology to Seeberger Dermatology in Alamogordo, New Mexico, where she continues her commitment to serving rural communities. She is passionate about mentoring patients to achieve their best skin health—whether through treating complex skin conditions, managing skin cancer, or enhancing appearance with cosmetic dermatology.
