Dr. Debra Kay Goran, PhD

Debra Goran is an excellent clinical psychologist who helped me with handling an abusive relationship and was great in providing treatment to help me work through a very hard time in my life.

My name is Victoria, I am a Trans -women and been her patient for close to 2 years. Dr. Goran is a wonderful doctor, and I highly recommend her.

I began an email correspondence with Goran in order to inquire if she was taking new clients, about her availability, and whether or not she offered a sliding scale. She wrote me back a day letter with her general availability and that she did not offer a sliding scale, but had a "little leeway to negotiate fees." I then wrote her back indicating that I did not have insurance and inquired further about what such "leeway" might entail. It has now been 7 days and I have not heard back from her. I am left to think she is either classist (as I had indicated that I was financially constrained), or this non-responsiveness is simply her normal communicative practice. It is not at all easy to start a relationship with a new therapist. My initial encounter with Goran would seem to indicate she may well make it more difficult.
