Dr. Debra Lynn Royce, MD

I grew up seeing Dr. Royce; I respect her and what she does for the rural community, but I cannot recommend her as a physician. My family has a history of depression and anxiety disorder; when I went to her because I was sleeping for 20 hours a day and couldn't stay up past 1 in the afternoon... her solution was to eat a snack if I started to feel sleepy. Finally I got on medicine but started to gain weight. A lot of weight. I ended up putting on 60 pounds in a year because of it. When I told her the following year that I couldn't figure out why I was gaining weight and the only thing that had changed was me taking the medicine, she acted surprised and said I must be eating too much... I have since had it confirmef by other doctors that many antidepressants cause huge weight gain. I guess the take away here is that if you have a physical ailment and no insurance she is a fine option. If you are having mental health issues or you are lucky enough to have insurance, stay away.
