After hours of "research" and medical information I read online about my loss in my sense of taste and smell, I met Dr Gurushanthaiah three weeks ago on a visit to his Oakland office. He was very informative, communicative and honest with his diagnosis, thoughts, treatments, options and expectations of my situation. He was friendly, positive, personable and communicative- rare combination. I found him to be very straight-forward, seemed to be very excited and positive about what he does for a living. I recommend him highly.

I am four days post-op of a tricky 7hr parotidectomy which Dr.Gurushanthiah performed. My case was tricky and abnormal as I had "too many tumors to count" seeding my salivary gland near my facial nerves. I come out of the operation with a lack of words to describe how grateful I am that Dr.Gurushanthiah was my surgeon - he and his team did a thorough and methodical job that has resulted in the best possible outcome. My overall experience with Dr.Gurushanthiah has been overwhelmingly positive. I was referred to him when no one in the San Francisco ENT department wanted to touch my case. He spent a lot of time with me and my husband, discussing the MRI images and explaining the procedure, goals and risks. He has a wonderful bedside banner that is both trustful and reassuring, without diminishing the seriousness of what he was telling me. The operation was a huge success, both in removing the tumors, preserving my facial nerves and also in accounting for some cosmetic factors. He did an… exceptional job of managing my expectations and while I was expecting to have a large scar that ran in front of my ear and down my neck, I was delighted to wake up and find that he was able to use a facelift style incision that is hidden in my ear and then wraps around to hide in my hair line. Overall I'm grateful to have had such a capable and skilled surgeon and surgical team and can state based on my own successful outcome and positive experience that anyone would be privileged to have Dr.Gurushanthiah as their surgeon.
