Dr Stokes is dismissive and doesn’t provide a reasonable standard quality of care

This office is very unprofessional. The staff is rude, making an appointment is a nightmare when calls are not answererd or returned. Dr Stokes does not remember his patients and asked me the SAME questions during back to back appointments. Literally asked me how old I was, etc. Spent very little time examining me or figuring out what is wrong. Only spends 5 minutes or less with each patient before moving onto the next. I would not recommend going here at all!

I’ve seen stokes for 2 pregnancies (one in 2010 and currently in 2018). I love his office and his midwives. I strongly believe that dr. Stokes is very good at what he does. If any of my pregnancies had complications, I’d want him there. The ONLY thing that’s hard is, sometimes he is very busy (understandable) and his accent is thick, so I feel like I don’t have time to understand the answers to all my questions. BUT, his team is great, so if I leave confused, I can just call and ask for follow up instructions.

He is not your "touchy-feely" kind of doctor--there is no question that your relationship is purely professional. But he is a superb clinician, is polite, but very focused on giving good medical care. If you're looking for someone that will hold your hand and gaze deeply into your eyes, bring your husband or lover.

The OB GYN office is awful. The staff is not responsive and unorganized. Everything is done on paper. Nothing is recorded electronically. The office is always in some state of remodeling. I had to ask the receptionist on three different occasions to order my mammogram. The last time I called, I was put on hold for 15 minutes. My care by Doctor Stokes has been questionable. I'm sure he iwas an excellent doctor at one time but it's time for him to retire. I recently switched to a new OB GYN in Grants Pass and my care is so much better then the care I was receiving from Doctor Stokes and the OB GYN office in Eureka.

I am a former labor and delivery nurse and I feel Dr Stokes is an unsafe option for any woman carrying a baby. When an emergency arose with my pregnancy Dr Stokes acted outside of protocol and put my baby and my body at risk. He did not do an ultrasound or put me on a monitor that could have saved my daughter's life. Because he is chronically overbooked and does not have decent backup, a patient may wait hours for basic care. After I lost my baby he failed to order basic labs to confirm that I had not retained placental tissue, eventually I became so ill I sought care from a specialist who quickly ordered additional surgery.

His manner was not good, not the worst, but he gave me the most incompetent pelvic exam I've ever had. Just painfully jammed the speculum in and then gave up. He was clearly in a rush and could not be bothered. Even tho he made me repeat all the info i just filled out in forms. This after an hour wait undressed, and zero kindness from the staff. If you're not going for regular birth stuff stay away. Horrible experience, I've literally never had a single problem in a pelvic exam before though i have had more rude gynos.

doc stokes delivered my daughter in 1981 who, subsequently, also became his patient and delivered her two (2) daughters. i continue to see him regularly and he is one of the most conscience docs i have ever known. personable and caring - always there when i need something or to answer any questions - i feel very strongly that he is by far the best ob-gyn in humboldt county, and heartily recommemd his medical practice to anyone interested in personalized attention.

He was very rude. it had to be done the way he wanted or he didn't give the care that was asked for.
