Dr. Dejon Jermaine Maloney, MD

Dr Maloney is an amazing doctor and an incredible person. He saved my mother's life. My mother had a bleed that she was going to ignore and Dr Maloney convinced her to have it checked by a specialist. It turns out she had uterine cancer. After the surgery and a week in the hospital, she was discharged by the surgical team with a complication and I had to take her to the emergency room three days later. Dr Maloney just happened to see one of her scans on a board and immediately came down to her room to see what had happened. Over the next week in the hospital he checked on her multiple times a day and personally coordinated her care. Very few of the doctors at Bayfront were willing to take the time to tell me what was going on with my mother (she had developed an ileus, aspiration pneumonia, and her sepsis alarm was triggered). Dr Maloney was the only one that would explain to me in layman's terms what was happening and what the next steps in her care were going to be. I have… never met a doctor that cared as much about his patients as Dr. Maloney does. He watched over my mother as though she were a member of his own family. There were a few instances during her stay in the hospital (for example NG tube insertion and placement) where his frequent check ins and immediate actions turned the tide in my mother's progress and eventual recovery. I honestly believe that without this incredibly caring, knowledgeable, and determined doctor at my mother's side she may not have come out the other side of this experience at all. Six months later she has made a full recovery and I sincerely thank Dr. Maloney for saving my mother's life. It seems I am not alone in my high regard for this excellent physician, several of the nurses both in the hospital and in the clinic shared my opinions of his excellent quality of care. One nurse even said "If there is something wrong, Dr. Maloney will find it and fix it."
