Dr. Denise Goldsmith, PhD

She decided to give my ex who was fighting to keep my son in another state, away from both of us, joint custody. Its been 9 years and I feel nothing for my son. I cannot emotionally invest in a child i only see 3 days a week. His father still doesn't want to take care of him, so he lives in a filthy house and goes to school smelling bad and wearing dirty clothes when he's with his father. He feels like a guest in both our homes, and i cant wait for him to leave so I can have family time with my kids. She assured me that children are resilient and we'll all get used to it, so I waited and waited. Nope, she's just a damn liar. No one has gotten used to this. Everyday with my son is painful and a tortuous reminder that I used to love him. Her terrible experiment of giving fathers joint custody, regardless of whether or not they even want it, is a failure. She's ruined my son's life.

I agreed with Dr Goldsmith’s recommendations 100% in our custody evaluation. I think she was very concerned for my children and for what was best for each individual child. She understood their needs and my concerns for our situation and when she read her report I agreed with her on everything she had to say. Thank you Dr Goldsmith for all you do to help children in these situations.

Be wary. She recommended splitting siblings between parents when join custody was being re-evaluated. Unless you are pro-joint custody, be wary about what recommendations she will give.
