Dr. Denise L Zmolek Skuster, MD

I went to Dr. Skuster a couple years ago and she didn’t listen to me at all. She made me feel like I was below her for the problems I had been experiencing. She told me I was just over thinking things and I needed to “relax more” when I was literally blacking our randomly. Do not recommend to anyone ever, and I 100% believe her license needs to be REVOKED.

Dr. Skuster has been exceptional. She listens carefully and she gives reasonable, real life answers to questions. Her diagnoses, advise and cures have been accurate. This is a doctor I would be willing to recommend.

Asked her if I could try a certain kind of medication she wouldnt let me. Asked her if she knew of any neurologists that specialized in trigeminal neuralgia. She screamed and said there are no specialists in the state of utah. She is very very rude!! Wouldn’t recommend her at all.!

Dr Skuster has been an exceptional doctor. She listens carefully and she is able to give good practical advice. Her diagnosis and instructions have been accurate and helpful. I would recommend her to family and friends.

Thinks she sits on a pedestal because she's a doctor. Thinks she knows everything and doesn't listen to her patients. She hears them but she does not listen.

I have found Dr Skuster to be very knowledgeable and helpful. She has taken the time to give me the information I want and her answers are backed up with facts and research. She listens to my concerns and her answers have always been realistic and insightful. When I ask a doctor a question, I want to know the answer so I can make decisions about my health. I don't want the doctor to sugar coat the answers so it is difficult to interpret. Dr Skusters gives you the facts as they pertain to you. I have followed her advise in medication, exercise and diet. I believe this has given me the information I need to live life to the fullest with a debilitating illness. I would recommend her to my friends and family.

I was referred to Dr Skuster by a cardiologist, for my daughter who has POTS. One interesting thing I learned from the cardiologist is that Roger Banister became a neurologist specializing in POTS. The first thing Dr. Skuster said when she walked in was, "I don't treat POTS, it's a cardiac disease." I told her, "No, it's a neurological disorder, with cardiac symptoms". And it went downhill from there. She did order the MRI I needed, but since she doesn't know her stuff, the insurance didn't want to pay for it! Come on, Dr. Skuster! Get some continuing education ! Google University is free!

I went to her 10 yrs ago with very specific symptoms, I had been having for a yr prior to the visit. Her nurse called me to set me up with a EEG. when i went to the appt she said I ordered the test on my own which is impossible, then she said I was a hypochondriac and sat there and basically told me that i was dumb for coming to see her and i was wasting her time, well 10 yrs later if she would have taken even a second to look and listen she would have realized that i had a 1 1/2 inch hole in my heart (asd) and had been having many mini strokes, plus i had some other serious nerve issues. I am very upset with Dr skuster. Do not go to her.

I have had a good experience with this doctor. I have problems with chronic migraines. Most of the preventative medications take 6-8 weeks to start working.. and you also have to find the right dose. We went through many medications, so I was in pain for a while. I think some of the frustration on this page are based on the expectation of immediate results. Getting the right medication and the right dosage can take time. It is easy to be impatient, but keep trying. I mostly have my headaches under control now and am happy to have my life back.

She is the Dr I want to have as an advocate. Due to multiple sclerosis that became quite aggressive during several periods I have run the gamut when it comes to all MS medications. Dr. Skuster is smart, aggressive, and on my behalf spent hours contacting other neurologists to ensure that I was receiving excellent medical care. There have been times when she felt I needed her cell number so that I could reach her quickly. She and other neurologists are overwhelmed with patient requests. She is the reason I'm still walking today. If she tells you something about your condition that you are not ready to hear you may get angry with her. I've been there myself several times. However, her ultimate goal is the BEST long term quality of life for her patient. She most certainly isn't aloof...as a doctor she has to remove the emotion and deal with each issue logically despite the suffering that she sees daily. I've seen her struggle to maintain that facade and I know that it is painful… to see the failure of the human body. I see a lot of us have used web MD and then gone in with a list of things we "think" we have and we are unwilling to trust that our Dr's actually have our best interest at heart. There is only so much a Dr. can do with chronic diseases. They can only manage the symptoms as best as possible but expecting to "return" to the state you were before being diagnosed may not be realistic. By all means hope for and work for it but don't blame a Dr. for the "human condition". I am grateful that she is my Dr., I am grateful that she cared enough about me to try to save as much of me as possible, I am grateful that as long as we were trying so was she. This is a GREAT and AMAZING woman who shows up daily despite the fact that every day she exposes herself to others suffering. This is someone that listens to the whining and complaining despite the fact that she can NOT fix it but she is willing to try. She constantly educates herself and she gives up time with her family (which means a great deal to her) to help her patients. Thank you. Even though you can never give me a life without MS you have given me the ability to live with the disease.
