Dr. Dennis Howard English, MD

While I never saw this doctor at the practice I had the unfortunate experience of having to speak with him on the phone because he was the oncall doctor. When I called I apologized for calling over a minor issue, but explained that the call line wouldn't give me the nurse hotline number. I'm coming down with a cold and called about whether taking a Emergen-C pack while nursing was safe. I mentioned that I googled the question and that there was no clear answer. He responded "I don't know what that is" in a smug way. I told him it's a dietary supplement that contains 1000mg of vitamin C. And he said "I don't know and I would just take the daily requirement of vitamin C". Again he said this is an annoyed manner. I'm not sure why an OBGYN is not familiar with what is appropriate to take when nursing. Regardless, I proceeded and asked him what the daily intake requirement is and he said "I don't know, you can google it" and then hung up on me. I absolutely acknowledge that what I was… calling about is trivial, but who am I supposed to call with postpartum questions. I would never recommend this doctor or the UPMC East practice. They truly don't care about you postpartum.

I am very satisfied with Dr. English and would highly recommend him. Very knowledgeable, caring, talks to you and listens to you.
