Dr. Dennis Michael Hull, MD

I went to the first time to Dr hull to have my moles checked out like I need to do every 6 months. I had melanoma in the past and get regular check ups for my moles to make sure there are not any problem areas. I did not wait long and was brought to the medical room to await Dr Hull. I was in the office for about 5 minutes when he came in. he asked if I had melanoma before and I said yes and showed him where the spot was. He then looked at my back and face for a total of 1 minute. At that point he said he would see me in a year. It was not a thorough evaluation at all. My wife does a better job when checking my moles. I feel like he did not care to really look at the moles or do what he was supposed to do. I would not recommend Dr Hull to anyone. Not the greatest experience and I can definitely find a better dermatologist.

He didn't waste our time and make us come back for removal of 1 suspicious mole that our primary care physician thought needed a look. There was no long wait to see him and we were in and out quickly. He addressed acne concerns before I brought it up so is observant as well.

I've been going since the outbreak of my psoriasis, and my identical twin sister. He has worked with us because we didn't have insurance, and was able to give us samples. Very informative on how to take care of our psoriasis, and four years later after the treatment my psoriasis hasn't flared. Also he's helped remove the skin cancer from my father's arm. All in all great experience and we will refer others!!!

This physician's bedside manner was the worst I've ever experienced. He tried to make me feel like I was an idiot for being nervous before a procedure. He set across the room from me and observed his nurse performing the procedure and then left the room. Would not recommend him to anyone.

I was referred to Dr. Hull through Doctors Care Clinic in Summerville (Dorchester Rd). Ive had adult acne for the past five years and have been unable to see a specialist because I was uninsured and the expense would have been too great a burden. Ive seen numerous general practitioners for my acne, but never a dermatologist. Since I was now covered I was glad that I could finally see an expert in the field. Dr Hull is in my insurances circle and I immediately was able to make an appointment which I appreciated. I arrived and filled out the usual forms. I did not have to wait long and found the nurse to be friendly and professional. However, my experience changed upon meeting Dr. Hull. He came into the room along with the nurse, touched some of the pimples on my face and asked me four questions: What have you used in the past? Do you wear makeup? Where do you work? and Do you eat nuts? That was all. I desperately wanted to share my experiences, as Ive been prescribed many different… medications from different doctors over the years. I told him that Id used Cetaphil, benzoyl peroxide, retin-A, birth control pills, salicylic acid and nothing had worked. He interrupted me several times and appeared to just want to leave the room as soon as possible.When I described in detail the measures I take to limit the amount of bacteria I get on face, he seemed totally uninterested. Once or twice during this "consultation," I made eye contact with the nurse and just gave her a look of disbelief, she simply shrugged her shoulders and smiled. Ive done my fair share of research on the topic, and I could talk about my battle with acne for quite a while. I wanted to talk about it, I really did, but after he asked me those questions, he handed me a pamphlet told me to read it and left the room (the nurse followed). I looked at the pamphlet and realized it was just a pamphlet for a benzoyl peroxide-based medication. I never got to tell him at the time, but I did not want to use benzoyl peroxide anymore. He came back in the room about five minutes later and asked if I had read the pamphlet, I said I had. He told me that I should stop eating nuts because they have oil in them and it could contribute to acne. I added that my niece was severely allergic to nuts and he said that allergies had nothing to do with it. The oil in nuts could contribute to acne. Seriously? He handed me a small bottle of cetaphil face wash and some trial sized bottles of the benzoyl-based prescription, and said that hed see me in a month. It took me an hour and half to drive to this appointment and it was over in 8 minutes. When I left the office, and was about to pay, the woman checking me out asked what time next year Id like my appointment. I gave her a blank stare. She asked me again, and again I said nothing. She then realized that she was talking to the wrong person, apologized and asked when in the next month Id like to be seen. I made an appointment again. She then asked how much my co-pay was. I said I had no idea, she asked how much it usually is for specialists, againI have no idea. She then picks an arbitrary number out of the sky ($20), charges me for it, and that was that. I left, feeling completely awful. I had doctors before act nonchalant and disinterested when I came to them for my acne in the past. But I never expected that a dermatologist, of all people, would so thoroughly throw me away like this. Many people who suffer skin disorders are self-conscious, and nervous about opening up about it. The way Dr. Hull approached this whole appointment made me feel like he did not care about his field at all. Like its just another thing to do before lunch time arrives. I researched his credentials online and it appears he has had no additional training since he graduated 37 years ago. A specialist who actually cared about their field would have gotten some additional training. Additionally, I was able to find another review from a person who had a very similar experience to mine. This is no coincidence. I went back to Doctors Care (the clinic who referred me) and told the woman at the front desk how unsatisfied I was with Dr. Hull. The woman who I spoke with was so wonderful about the whole thing. She was incredibly concerned that I had a bad experience; she called the Dr. Hulls office and told them about what happened, and told me they apologized for my negative experience. The woman from Doctors Care searched around for a while and came up with a list of other dermatologists who are in my insurance policy's "circle." She went out of her way to give me other options and recommended that I go online and research the names of the list of doctor's she provided. When I came home, I immediately called Dr. Hulls office and cancelled my appointment. Again, no one cared to ask why I was cancelling the appointment either. I have the feeling he doesnt see many repeat patients, and its time someone take notice of this behavior. I am absolutely letting my insurance company know that I received horrible care from him. I do not recommend Dr. Hull at all to anyone for any reason whatsoever. Steer clear and save your money for someone who actually cares.
