Dr. Dennis Wayne Murphy, MD

Dr. Murphy has been my family practitioner since I was born, so I am very familiar with his typical services and treatments. On numerous occasions I have gone to Dr. Murphy for examinations and every time he dismisses my symptoms and does not conduct a full examination. When I was 16 I had a very large swollen tonsil in the back of my throat that was painless. I was told by Dr. Murphy to ignore the growth in my throat since it wasn't causing any pain. Upon getting a second opinion, I was told that the swollen tonsil needed immediate removal. I was very disappointed that Dr. Murphy dismissed my symptoms as nothing to worry about. Another incident, I went to Dr. Murphy when I had multiple swollen lymph nodes that were very painful. His examination seemed careless and he did not spend adequate time to investigate my symptoms. My lymph nodes stayed swollen for months until I had to, again, go to another doctor for treatment. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. He has let… me down on numerous occasions when my health was very much at risk. His old thinking style to not conduct full examinations or give perscriptions could potentionally put a persons health at risk. I will never return to him again.

I had to go to Dr. Murphy on a Sunday one weekend. He is not my doctor, but he was the doctor on call. I loved him! He made me feel that I did not bother him because it was the weekend. Dr. Murphy spent a lot of time with me . I loved his bed side manner. He really helped me get my blood pressure under control. I give him a 5 star for being there when I needed him!

Dr. Murphy is an overall excellent GP/primary care physician. The staff is usually friendly and the experience is above par, for the most part. However, scheduling an appointment or requesting prescription refills is, for some reason, burdensome to this particular doctor's office's staff. It is not limited to any individual, but the entire PHG practice at Tower Pointe. In this day and age, refill requests and appointment scheduling should be streamlined. They seem to have attempted to put forth an effort to make this a simple process, but have failed. The execution of the procedures to obtain a prescription is lacking. In other words, they know how to take the reservation, but they don't know how to HOLD the reservation. I have experienced this on countless occasions. So, if, like me, you take any C-2 drugs, avoid this medical group at all costs.
