My son had ear pain and Dr.Dennis did such a great job handling his needs. Professional and friendly bedside manner.

I came in with pain in my toes, ankle and knee after falling three stairs. I went to the North Avenue Clinic in River Forest. I have been with Loyola since late 1970's. Dr Dennis came in and was very polite, asked questions, and I told him my toes felt like they were burning. I could barely put a blanket on my toes. He had instructed the x-ray person to take an x-ray from my knee through my ankle. I asked her will she take an x-ray of my toes. She said, no, the doctor did not request one. I said but that's where the most pain is. She said, he's the doctor and I believe he knows what he's doing. I go back to my original room and he comes in and said, "Just as I thought, nothing is wrong." I followed with, but my toes are in pain. He follows with, "Well, if you insist, we will give you an x-ray of your toes". X-rays were done. I go back to the room , and he comes in again to says "Just as I thought, nothing is wrong." I said thank you and he leaves. As I am… preparing to leave, the doctor, looking a little flustered, opens the door, stands at the door and says, "Oh, they just found a fracture in your toe. I said, "Where doctor" which toe"? Still standing by the door, waves his hand holding a pen, comes a little closer, and says "Somewhere around there"? and walks out. I'm thinking, I knew something was wrong. The nurse comes in, says how nice the doctor is, and fits me for a boot that the doctor requested. I request copies of my x-rays to take home. Along with the nurse, I walk out of the building with the boot on. I try driving with the boot, which, of course, is impossible. At that moment, I put on my regular shoes before I enter traffic. The next day, I went to see my podiatrist with the x-rays in hand. Not only did I have one fracture........I had three fractures in three different toes. That is why they felt like they were on fire. I also was not suppose to walk out and drive with the boot on. I love Loyola. Have had many, many good experiences from giving birth to my two children to many other medical visits. I still stand by all my doctors. I continue to be a patient there as well as my family. However, this doctor and the nurse need to be trained better. I believe this doctor has been at Loyola for many years and with this experience, I can't believe Loyola kept him this long.
