Dr. Dennis E Ready, MD

As a young GYN patient of Dennis Ready‘’s at Bernalillo County Medical Center (now UNM Hospital) in 1975 in Albuquerque NM, I was seen without a guardian or parent, admitted to the hospital for irregular periods, menstrual pain. I woke up from the surgery, performed by Dr Dennis Ready and a Dr Printz, with no reproductive system. He performed a COMPLETE HYSTERECTOMY on me ... I was only 19 yrs old! I literally went in for a biopsy but woke up having had a complete hysterectomy! I learned I’d never have children of my own. In retrospect, I was likely suffering from endometriosis, which could easily have been well treated, avoiding that dreadful hysterectomy. His actions, clearly a rush to judgment, had such a terribly negative impact on my adult life, nearly destroying me psycho-logically. How could any Doctor do such a thing to a young 19 yr old girl? Did he ever question if it were absolutely necessary or was I just one more poor, underprivileged Latina, seen at a County Medical… Center, whose sterilization meant nothing to him? At 65 yrs old, I still have a bitter taste in my mouth about what Dennis Ready did to me when I was still legally a child? I’ve never forgiven him and I never will for sterilizing me at such a young age when it was avoidable and unnecessary, just convenient for him. Shame on you, Dr Ready. How would you feel if somebody did that to you or your daughter?
