Summary
As a physician, I study the person and not just the test results. Sometimes the latter may be improving but the patient may not be. It’s why listening to and learning from what patients tell me is so important.
I’ve practiced in both clinic and hospital settings and have always liked adult medicine. As a clinic doctor, patients often said I was thorough. I eventually gravitated toward the care of acutely ill patents. Working as a hospitalist has provided me with this opportunity.
I get satisfaction from helping sick patients get better and recover. Or if patients are terminally ill, knowing that I’ve helped make them comfortable up to the last moments of their lives is also gratifying.
