Dr. Derek Joseph Brown, MD

Dr Brown is very thorough and is good about giving information regarding any questions that we have...he gives you the whole picture and not just the immediate concern...Dr Brown has been our son's pediatrician since he joined Newman and we highly recommend him! His office staff and nurses are great and we rarely wait and they are great about scheduling appointments!

We were in town visiting my sister-in-law from out of state when our son had trouble breathing during the night. We brought him to the urgent care where we were promptly seen and they moved us over to Dr. Brown's office. He was personable and knowledgeable. We ended up being spending most of the day in an observation room at the hospital and he came in several times to check on him. His communication with us regarding our child's condition and why he was choosing to treat us as he did was top notch. He understood that we had plans to get back to Georgia as soon as we could, but wanted to be sure we were out of the woods and that we had all the medication we needed before we left. If I lived in the Emporia area I would have no hesitation taking our boys to Dr. Brown.

Dr. Brown is not the most personable physician I know and I feel his communication skills provide an opportunity for improvement - but overall I feel he is very knowledgable, courteous, and competent. I feel very comfortable having him care for my children and would recommend him with confidence.
