Dr. Derek Jason Ley, MD

I chose Dr. Ley for corrective surgery after a botched lapiplasty bunion correction by another podiatrist left my foot in bad shape. Dr. Ley operated 8/2025 to remove bone spurs in my toe joint, remove a bone shard under my midfoot, and to grind down a bony bump in my arch. Afterward, he told me everything was successfully removed and I wouldn't need another surgery. Two weeks post-op, I found a lump in my arch. He called it scar tissue and told me to massage it down. By week four it hurt badly, and my PT said it felt like bone. Dr. Ley then confirmed it was bone. At this point I asked for a CT/MRI to confirm the shard in my midfoot was fully removed; he declined, saying he didn't need one to know he got it all. For months my pain continued and my concerns were repeatedly dismissed telling me I felt more pain than others. A year later, the pain was unbearable so I demanded imaging. It showed the same dagger-shaped bone in my midfoot, which he said had 'grown back.' I got a second… opinion who told me it was in fact the original fragment never removed. He said I might have tendon damage from walking on it all this time too. I’m currently waiting for that surgery with the new surgeon.
