Dr. Deron Ottey, MD

Doctor kind of rude,came in didn't close the door,very poor as a Profesional dr.I won't recommended to anybody,lack of basic treatment!! to patient.It doesn't hurt to introduce him self to me .Good luck!

If I could give -5 stars I would!! In my opinion this doctor or whatever he claims to be should not be practicing medicine due to lack of communication and professionalism. We took my son to Deron due to a finger injury after being referred to him by UF Health in Starke. It all started with Deron not sending medical discovery files to our insurance company in order to get a MRI. Deron scheduled the surgery at St. Vincent and didn't even have the MRI. My wife and I tried calling Deron's office over 100 times to get an answer on when the MRI would be scheduled. Out of all those times we only spoke to someone on a few occasions. All in all it took five weeks for Deron to submit the paperwork so that we could get the MRI. Once we got the MRI Deron cancelled the surgery the day before the procedure and said that it was not a surgery he was willing to perform due to the damage. Now I'm not a doctor but in my opinion it seems to me like had he been a professional MD that actually cared about… patients rather than a paycheck then the damage may not have been so bad. Ok, back to the story. So after Deron basically says he doesn't know what he is doing and cant repair the finger he says that he will refer us to a different doctor that can help. A day goes by and we hear nothing from the other doctors office. We call them in two days to see if they have orders from Deron Ottey and they say that they haven't heard anything from him. My wife calls Deron's office and after dozens of calls was finally able to reach a receptionist to find out what was going on with the orders. The receptionist tells my wife that this is just the way Deron is and that he doesn't get in a hurry for anyone and that there was nothing she could do. We waited two more days calling Deron's office and the new doctors office daily and still couldn't get Deron to send the orders. We ended up making our own appointment with Southeast Orthopedic and started from scratch. Southeast Orthopedics got us in within two days just to tell us that the finger was irreparable and gave the option to pin it straight out, leave it as is in a curled up position or amputate it. To say we are upset with Deron and his lack of professionalism which may have cost our son his finger is an understatement. All of this and I didn't even mention how Deron is in person. He dropped a Fbomb in front of my wife and came in wearing flip flops. Just how serious do you think he is and how much do you think he cares about you when he cant even behave or dress professionally? As I stated in the beginning. If I could give -5 stars I would. Beings I cant I will be sure to shout just how horrible he is to anyone that will listen. This comment and review is strictly my opinion and experience with Deron Ottey.

I must say I have never witness a Doctor being so strict and compassionate about his patients and their well being. Dr.Ottey will hammer down on making sure his patients are treated fairly and receive the care that they need. I really appreciate your care and concern. Thanks for your professionalism and understand. He is a bit rough but it is because he wants things done right and in a timely manner for all his patient. Thank God for a Doctor like you. V. Archie

Dr. Ottey is very rude to patients he blames the patients for anything that may go wrong with the outcome of the surgical procedures. He cusses constantly in front of his patients and staff. Dr. Ottey also blames other physicians that I was treated by for any problems with my knees he diagnosed me with bilateral knee with severe arthritis he operated on my right knee and I lost my leg, I got a second opinion before I lost my leg and the new orthopedic doctor was very unhappy with the diagnosis of the left knee that was not yet operated on and there was very mild arthritis and stated that I did not need a left knee replacement. My leg had to be amputated a few weeks later because of the severe infection. He blamed me and yelled at me because I went to another physician. His front office personal are females are extremely unprofessional one of the girls fell sleep during check out and the heavy set front office girl is very unprofessional she cusses and her uniform is way to small I… saw her undergarments and the top of her buttocks was in full view of everyone in the office. Seems to me like a party and how to cut on a patient without care of the outcome.

I lost my leg he blamed me I suffered for 2 1/2 years I finally found a surgeon that would fix my knee Dr. Ottey should be disbarred his licence taken away from him his attitude is nasty and he yells at his staff in front of patients.

I went to Dr. Ottey for a knee replacement and was very satisfied with his direct approach. Dr. Ottey has a great staff that actually cares about the patients well being pre and post surgery.

Does not care at all about patients.. He neglected my house with ALS. refused to fill out his fmla Sent him to. A shoddy nursing home..with a broken hip .and refused to coordinate his Radicava..for ALS THIS IS A PERSON MY HUSBAND SERVED HIS COUNTRY FOR???? #MALPRACTICE

He read my xrays and said both ankles were broken (2 board certified ortho surgeons later said left was not broken), kept me in hospital for 9 days before operating. For 8 days staff tried to contact him to no avail. He was rude, used profanity frequently. I ended up with MRSA and osteomyelitis and he blamed ME. Kept sutures in for 5 weeks, 3 days after removing wound dehisced and showed MRSA. He disagreed with culture! Had a great deal of difficulty finding another ortho to treat me. Please do NOT allow him to operate on you!

Dr ottey treated like a person. I had been seen by another orthopedic surgeon who did not respect me. He thought I was complaining too much. I would recommend Dr Ottey to all my family members and friends.

HE DISTROY MY KNEE AND HE SWORE AND ACCUSED ME OF NOT WORKING HARD ENOUGH AT PT AND I HAD TO GET A NEW DOCTOR THANK GOD A DOCTOR WOULD HELP ME HE MESSED ME UP FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS NOW I AM RECOVERING FROM ANOTHER COMPLETE KNEE REPLACEMENT AND I AM WALKING DR OTTEY OPERATED ON ME TWICE AND I ALMOST LOST MY LEG PLEASE LISTEN TO ME AND TELL EVERYONEYOU KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM DR OTTEY
