The most personal, honest, concern man who takes his time to explain everything in details.Very thoughtful and helpful and try to see if your insurance he can take. He is very efficient too. Doctor: Dr. Devarajan Iyengar - Bayonne Hospital - NJ For anyone just diagnosed with Cancer and facing the difficult and emotional task of selecting an experienced, compassionate, and well-rounded doctor, look no further. It is Dr. Devarajan Iyengar. When I received the devastating news of Non-Hodgkinâ??s B-Cell Follicular Lymphoma in 2002; I, of course, sought more than one opinion and made exploratory appointments with hospitals that are heavily marketed with stellar reputations: NYU, Columbia and Sloan Kettering. Given the advanced stage of the tumor in my stomach, all their doctors reinforced aggressive treatment and a short life span. These affiliated doctors ONLY gave me 6 years to live. Aggressive chemotherapy was their only option to extend time with my loved ones. Luckily, my niece and her husband were both pharmaceutical representatives and they referred me to Dr. Devarajan Ivengar in Bayonne, NJ. Well, here I am fourteen (14) years later with no dependency on… maintenance drugs AND clean Pet Scans. Dr. Iyegar and my wife call me the MIRACLE PATIENT. If you want a doctor who does not treat you like a number, will manage your treatment with common sense, compassion, care, and apply years of superior experience without defaulting automatically to aggressive first steps, it is Dr. DEVARJAN IYENGAR, my MIRACLE DOCTOR.

In 2013 I wrote a review in this column regarding my treatment with Dr. Iyengar. At that time, I mentioned that I had been treated by him for 9 years for inoperable kidney cancer. However, I now feel compelled to update my review because in the last 2 years I have since also been diagnosed with breast cancer. Since I am not able to have an operation, Dr. Iyengar is treating me with a chemo pill and, in my last follow-up, the tumor has shrunk. 2015 has been a pretty tough year for me, being in the hospital at least 10 times for the kidney cancer and, yet, today I am feeling as strong as I did two years ago. This wonderful, amazing doctor has pulled me out of some very serious life-threatening situations, and it's incredible that I am still alive after 11 years with a tumor in my body. In spite of the stroke he suffered last year, this compassionate, caring doctor never ceased during his recovery to treat his patients as always, with assistance from his outstanding staff of Drs.… Riotto and Paduszynski. I am very blessed to have these doctors in my life who are giving me extra time to enjoy my family and friends. God Bless them all.

very good and caring dr but long wait in office

I am Dr. Iyengar's patient for about 20 or so years and I owe my life to this doctor. Initially I was being treated by him for a blood disorder, but then discovered I had kidney cancer in 2004. After being advised by Sloan Kettering the tumor was inoperable and all they could do was monitor it every 3 months by CT Scan, I approached Dr. Iyengar about options and he directed me to Boston Mass General for radio-frequency treatment & it was successful for 5 years. After 5 years another tumor grew adjacent to the old tumor and, unfortunately, I was not a candidate for the same procedure. So Dr. Iyengar continued to search for more options and ultimately found a radiologist with a new IGRT machine who treated the tumor and it has now stopped growing and has shrunk. Dr. Iyengar is constantly researching to find new doctors and equipment to help his cancer patients and it is amazing he finds the time to do so. My aunt was treated by Dr. Iyengar more than 30 years ago for leukemia, and… she would always tell me she would not take a medicine or see a doctor without Dr. Iyengar's approval. I used to think, "Who is this doctor that my aunt thinks is so wonderful that she lives her life by his advice?" Well, I found out who he is and now feel exactly the same way she did and am forever indebted to him for giving me nine more wonderful years to enjoy my family and my life. If there is a positive aspect to being diagnosed with breast cancer, it is learning that there are doctors in the world who care beyond measure. Dr Iyengar is one of those rarest of doctors who not only treats the disease, but treats the patient. He has become not only my doctor, whom I adore, admire, and trust, he has become a valued friend. Dr. Iyengar has never ceased to amaze me with his genuine concern, his astute ability to diagnose even obscure medical problems, and his willingness give himself totally to the mental, emotional and physical well-being of his patients. I can never repay him for what he has done for me and for my family. As I said, before, if there is an upside to cancer, it is spelled Dr. Devarajan Iyengar, my physician, my guardian angel, and my dear friend.
