Dr. Arnold J. Markowitz, MD

I have a genetic abnormality that places me at significant risk for colon cancer. Dr. Markowitz has been performing my annual colonoscopy for the past 15 years. I have at all times found him to be thorough, professional and compassionate. I would recommend him without reservation.

First of all I see the 1 star and 2 star reviews and I would love to know how someone could see a Doctor not knowing if the Practitioner takes his or her Insurance and then bashes the Doctor at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for billing too much. The Hospital bills not the Doc. The other 2 stars well they didn't explain why the two stars so there goes their credibility. I have known Dr. Markowitz for many years. He is the absolute perfect example of a competent and great Gastroenterologist with a terrific bedside manner. There's noithing more I can say about him. He's very well respected.

Very impressed. Dr. Markowitz had the perfect combination of compassion, skill, and experience. He fit me in for an appointment before going on vacation which was very nice of him. He covered treatment options, managing symptoms, and had his nurse review nutrition tips. He had a calm demeanor and wonderful bedside manner.

The best of the best

He is the best! He is caring and finds out and cures your issues. Would go back to him in a heart beat. Always love his smile and laugher.

Dr. Markowitz is an amazing physician. He is warm and caring and also very thorough. Not sure how anyone could give a low review based on insurance. You should check your coverage prior to going.

As a nurse I am so impressed with Dr. Markowitz. Despite my Dad having annual colonoscopies for the past 10 years for a family history of colorectal cancer, he didn't feel well and sensed something wrong. His regular GI reported his biopsies were negative. My Dad saw Dr. Markowitz who thoroughly repeated the colonoscopy and biopsies and found a large tumor positive for cancer. My Dad had surgery at MSKCC and credits Dr. Markowitz and Dr. Guillem with saving his life.

I can say without a doubt Dr. Markowitz saved my father's life. Dr. Markowitz was so thorough in his work that he left no stone unturned. What was written off by another doctor as "nothing", was discovered by Dr. Markowitz to be a very big something. The extra biopsies he took saved my father's life. No one would have known he had cancer had Dr. Markowitz not have been this thorough. Thanks to him my dad was diagnosed and treated. I will never forget how he went above and beyond.

Dr Markowitz is the most compassionate doctor. He takes his time with my husband and our concerns. He goes beyond thorough. He also makes the effort to review all options. He reviews all procedures at least twice so there is no misunderstanding. He returns calls by no later than the end of the day unless of course it is an emergency. His staff treats both my husband and me like royalty. You can not ask for more in a doctor today except maybe house calls!

Does not accept major insurance such as UHC, and later charges the patient outragiously. Becareful with this Physician.
