Dr. Devendra Chandulal Shah, MD

I’ve found Dr. Shah to be compassionate with a lovely bedside manner. I’ve had no issues with communication from or with Dr. Shah or his office. Appointments with Dr. Shah have always been appropriately prying (after all, this is a psychiatry practice), without feeling unnecessarily time consuming. My interactions with Dr. Shah have always been respectful, pleasant, and informative.

I was a patient of Dr. Shah’s for about six years. I found him to seem unconcerned about my major depressive disorder, condescending, distrustful and aloof. One of the meds he prescribed for me was Adderall, and at one point there was a national shortage of it. He told me that if I needed to get partial fills (because of the shortage) to do so, and then let his office know so they could write a new script for the remainder of the month. I did that a couple of times as directed. The next time I saw him he chastised me for doing it. He said I was “wasting a lot of his and his office’s time with partial fills.” Basically I never knew what to expect during an appointment with him which really heightened my already severe anxiety. Would the appointment be relatively smooth or would I get lectured/chastised about something unexpected and unfounded? Someone else wrote something in a review about Dr. Shah and his staff that said if you want compassion, assistance from the front office and a… pleasant bedside manner, go elsewhere. I totally agree. The one/only thing I will give Dr. Shah credit for is that he is extraordinarily knowledgeable about various psych meds and combos for trying to help with treatment resistant depression. Beyond that, my experience with him was quite negative so just be forewarned if you plan to go see him.

He and his staff ( which he speaks in Hindi to - the other Indians- that work up front and laugh at you and think you are not aware of the things he is saying ) are infinitely more interested in greed/ money and not his patients well being as he charges well more than the experience and expertise is worth. Very clear language barrier as his accent was so thick that you have to take an anxiety med just to ready yourself to focus on his questions and his demeaning answers to your concerns. I would highly recommend seeking another healthcare provider that has a pleasant sanitary office (not by third world country standards ) .A caring staff as well as a bedside manner is also severely lacking. Rating from a one to five he gets negatives in my book of standards of care.

I have been seeing him for some time now, at first I was hesitant regarding my diagnosis but after speaking with him and getting the proper medication, I have been able to stabilize my overall condition.

This doctor cannot be recommended. He does not even care about your medical history and medications. Very heavy accent and hard to understand. Showed no compassion to find help.

What Doctor would prescribe 90 pills each of kolonopin, Xanax and many other extremely addictive drugs monthly to an addict for over 8 years now?... whether my family member survives this rehabilitation or not, I am currently retaining an attorney. .. He will answer to this patient abuse.

Very concerned. Keeps track of Prescriptions.

I like Dr. Shah. He is readily available and I can see him for only a moderate copay

I called over two weeks ago to schedule and appointment which no one never called me back. I called again today to try and get assistance with an appointment. The scheduler then went into asking me a serious of questions. I made it clear that my medial doctor advised me to see a psychiatrist. She then started to screen me after going though a traumatizing event in my life. She made me feel even worse. What happened to patient confidentiality. I was seeking help and she made me feel worse.

He is very knowledgeable and has a relaxed office demeanor.
