Dr. Devinder Singh Bhatia, MD

In May of 2023, Dr Bhatia, operated on me, along with Dr Kozak. I was having a spinal fusion with a front approach. Dr Bhatia’s responsibility was to move my major vessels and organs off to the side so that Dr Kozak could perform the fusion. Dr Bhatia over manipulated my vessels and organs (per my vascular surgeon), resulting in a massive internal bleeding and clots all over my body, including a ‘cantaloupe sized hematoma’ in my left abdomen. I quickly had no feeling or pulse in my right leg. I demanded to be transferred to nearby the vascular hospital so that a vascular surgeon could save my right leg and my life. He did so by performing 3 more surgeries. It was discovered that I had a Right iliac artery collapse and clots in 9 different areas of my body, including my lung and my vena cava. When Dr Bhatia discovered that his surgery on me went haywire, he called me and told me he would come right in and that he would ‘fix it’. When he arrived, there were other physicians in… the room. He peeked around the corner of the door, gave me a sheepish grin and a little boy wave and left. I never heard from him or saw him again. He never came to see me before the surgery or right after the surgery. I left the hospital 29 days after my first surgery and went home in a wheelchair. Did I mention that I was in very good physical shape before Dr Bhatia and Dr Kozak operated on me? It has taken me 2 years of PT and constant ‘push’ to get as far as I am. I still have a significant amount of neuropathy and pain in my right leg and foot that I deal with on a regular basis. I would NEVER, EVER allow Dr Bhatia to operate on anyone I loved. He has ruined my life. If this sounds like a horror story, it is. It has surely shortened my life by a good bit as I am still unable to do many of the things I could do prior to surgery. If I could give this man negative stars, I surely would.
