Dr. Dhaval Hitendrabhai Patel, MD

My wife and I had our first appointments with Dr. Patel this week and last week. I had the opportunity to sit in with my wife's first appointment as well. Let me say, this guy seems great. He is respectful and considerate. He listens well. He offers advice and suggestions as well as being open to your needs, requests, and concerns. During both visits, I had the warm fuzzies, and my wife really liked him too. We have been seeing psychiatrists for over 20 years. Most of them feel like "god" or unapproachable. Additionally most of them spend no more than 5 minutes with you. Even though we didn't need all the time, Dr Patel blocked off one hour to get to know each of us. He says subsequent appointments will be blocked off with 30 minutes of available time. Rarely have I been in a situation with a psychiatrist where I didn't feel like I was wasting his time, rushed, and rubber stamped. With Dr Patel, I didn't feel rushed, and I felt that I was able to communicate comfortably and… effectively. It remains to be seen what continued care will look like, but from my first impressions, I feel really lucky to have crossed Dr. Patel's path. One more thing, he seems very approachable and non-intimidating. I had a concern and I sent Dr. Patel a message through Kaiser's messaging system. He responded within an hour and made an adjustment that I requested.
