A board-certified surgeon, Diana Dickson-Witmer, M.D., is the associate medical director of the Christiana Care Breast Center at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, where she chairs a weekly breast/solid tumor oncology conference.

Dr. Dickson-Witmer chairs the Committee on Approvals of the Commission on Cancer. This committee sets standards for the 1,465 approved cancer programs in the United States and surveys the programs every three years to assess the level of compliance with those standards.

A 1976 graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Dickson-Witmer also served a residency there, as well as at the Medical Center of Delaware, where she was chief surgical resident in 1982.

She has been a member of the surgical teaching staff at Christiana Care Health Services since 1983. She also is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

An accomplished lecturer and writer, Dr. …Dickson-Witmer serves on the editorial board of Breast Diseases: A Yearbook Quarterly. She is a member of a number of professional organizations and committees and is the Delaware state chair for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

Dr. Dickson-Witmer also serves on the board of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, a group committed to raising awareness of the importance of early detection and treatment of breast cancer. She was appointed to the Education Committee of the American Society of Breast Surgeons in 2005.

She served as a surgeon on three medical missions, one in Zambia in southern Africa and two to Honduras in Central America. Dr. Dickson-Witmer also helped to set up a triage center to treat survivors of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, where she was attending a professional conference.

I absolutely recommend Dr. Dickson-Witmer. She is very knowledgeable, and competent. She answers most of my questions before I even ask them but always checks to make sure I don't have anymore. She spends a fair amount of time during the office visits. And she is quite pleasant. One thing that I love about her practice is that she has a nurse navigator who keeps up with all the details, and can be called whenever I have a question, and she does a good job as well. The staff made my appointments for me but were very open to changing them as needed. I really like her office staff as well. This is an efficient practice, but very friendly

Makes u feel rushed, insincere and very judgmental. My mom had died a few weeks before she performed a biopsy and she judged me bc I couldn’t stop crying. She poked me with a needle as she stared at a screen and her face was clueless. Didn’t explain things to me or my family correctly. She has terrible skills. And tries to act important with fake pearls. Would not recommend.

Poor quality doctor who makes you feel rushed, DOES NOT EXPLAIN THINGS CORRECTLY AND LIES TO YOU WHEN SHE BIOPSIES THE WRONG AREA BC SHE IS INCOMPETENT.

This Dr biopsied the wrong area of my breast and never admitted it and instead wanted me to get an immediate incision to cut out the area she couldn’t get to. I refused and now I’m at PENN WITH DR SUSAN CHANG and Dr. Witmer-Dickson would not even approve a stereotypic biopsy for Penn to use a special machine to biopsy the correct area without cutting. Penn has state of the art equipment that Helen Graham does not even have. They won’t tell you that tho. However, I went around this ridiculous woman and I’m NEVER going back to Helen Graham and would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS WOMAN. She is fake and you can tell her personality right away. It’s sick how much more caring the doctors are at PENN.

Unfortunately she did not spend time explaining post surgery, instructions and didn't follow her own protocol. I have yet to get a follow up call from her office. She tried blaming other staff for the lack of care that was given immediately after the surgery, then finally admitted it is her fault for not following through to make sure her standard was followed and she failed. I only found out that I was neglected after asking key questions with my follow up and how I had suffered the week that she finally admitted what should of been done for me. After questioning her about the lack of post care that was given (there were no raising of the voice or any anger, just asking questions), she walked out of the room and didn't want to me my doctor anymore then guess she realized how unprofessional she was and came back in.

Dr. Either treated me like I was a horrible person because I am addicted to smoming. She also told me if I did not stop she would not treat me! She thinks very highly of herself and when I left....I was in tears. I did not beg to become addicted to nicotine but I struggle! I guess she only wants to treat healthy patients to keep her stars up! I found her to be demeaning and rather snobbish...a true phony

She is the best. She is compassionate and very caring, and great at explaining everything! Excellent surgeon. Her office is also great about followup. I highly recommend this doctor to anyone.

Unfortunately she did not spend time explaining anything to me and I just felt like a number. Very disappointing as she seemed to be a great doctor. I would not recommend her. Her bedside manner is non-existent.
