Dr. Diana Catharine Lemly, MD

Usually always late, and doesn’t seem very invested in patient care. Dismissed every symptom as a manifestation of something mental, and ended up missing some major medical issues. Very quick to pass off to other doctors, and the nursing/office staff if also rude and soffits deal with.

I was under some anxiety disorder was constantly feeling chest pressure. She ordered a EKG for me. While later I learnt from others that it's likely a somatic presentation of my anxiety, but she never report my EKG result back to me or follow up with me to discuss my results / plans. Plus she's usually late for her appointment. Therefore I changed my PCP and not coming back anymore.

Dr. Lemly had been my primary care doctor for 2 years. During that time I have experienced much difficulty with her and her nurse practitioner. I endured difficulty filling prescriptions and sarcasm from her nurse. Dr. Lemly always seemed rushed and failed to diagnose a thyroid condition that I had. She kept saying that my test results were within normal range, but failed to listen to my symptoms. My new GP took one look at the same test results and diagnosed me with hypothyroidism. I also had extreme difficulty with scheduling prompt appointments and MGH not only charged my insurance a very high rate for the visit, but my insurance was also charged a fee for the examining room where I saw her. Even though our insurance pays for these visits, everyone suffers the consequences of higher premiums because hospitals charge higher than normal fees. I complained to MGH's Patient Advocacy, which went no where. They take the side of the doctor every time, so I don't know why their… department has it's name and I question why it exists!

Very thorough and willing to explore multiple treatment options and medical explanations. If I hadn’t seen Dr. Lemly, I’d still be very sick with no answers or treatment options. She also was very supportive in helping with treatment options for a complex eating disorder. She was very encouraging and was able to convince to return to treatment. Very thankful to have her as my PCP.

I went to see Diana Lemly because she claimed to be a specialist of reproductive endocrinology and menstrual disorders. I went to her complaining of PCOS and very long painful periods, low energy, depression that had been failed to be treated through antidepressants and therapy as well as basically every symptom of hypothyroidism other than being overweight. I was convinced that I had some type of thyroid disorder since my sister has Hashimoto's. She gave me a very incomplete lab test that had everything come back as "normal" and then condescendingly told me that my hypochondriac behavior was concerning and that I needed to go back on antidepressants. Two years later I saw a real specialist who gave me a complete lab test and diagnosed not only hypothyroidism but some severe vitamin deficiencies that explained every "hysterical" symptom I had. I just wish I could get back those 2 years of that painful and desperate interlude as well as the $700 she claims I owe her.
