Dr. Divaya Bhutani, MD

Learning you have a rare form of cancer is terrifying. Yet, from my initial visit with Dr. Bhutani I knew that I was in great hands which gave me hope for survival. Throughout my arduous ordeal, he was there when and where I needed him—always able to connect. I have never once felt rushed during our visits; rather, he listens so attentively and responds with such compassion and a ‘quiet confidence’ that what he is saying is for my benefit. My husband affectionately calls him our ‘Big Bang’ doctor, but he is that and so much more as he inherently possesses unbelievable social skills on top of his ‘Big Bang’ intelligence. What also impressed me was the fact Dr. Bhutani consulted with fellow colleagues and field specialists on my behalf—my diagnosis and treatment were not done in a vacuum. If/when asked, I would highly recommend Dr. Bhutani if you were seeking a cancer specialist in Hematology and/or Lymphoma. There were times I did not want to continue, but his calm demeanor, his warmth,… that ‘quiet confidence’ and his compassionate responses made me continue. With lots of support, thoughts, prayers, and the right doctor (Dr. B), I am now in remission.

When diagnosed with myeloma, I was referred to Dr Bhutani. His main office in now in NYC, at Columbia Hospital. Dr Bhutani is warm, compassionate, caring and listens to his patients. He explains things very clearly and completely, and will answer all your questions. The treatment protocol he devised for me put my myeloma in remission very quickly, with a minimum of side effects. On the rare occasions I did experience bad side effects, Dr Bhutani came to the clinic where I was being treated within MINUTES to examine me, determined what the problem was, and ordered appropriate adjustments Dr Bhutani spends as much as you need with him, you never feel rushed, and he knows his medicine. Working with Dr Suzanne Lenzsch, a world-renowned specialist in multiple myeloma, he will do everything possible to treat this disease so it has a favorable outcome. I was unfortunate to contract myeloma, but was very fortunate to have Dr Bhutani fighting for me.

Dr. Bhutani was very kind and took his time explaining my condition. He made sure I understood the issue. The only problem was that I had to wait over an hour for some reason and he did not mention it.
