I/We appreciate your kindness and sympathy regarding our case. Although we hail from the Pacific Northwest, Lina, you and Dr. Atkins display the warm hospitality of the great state of Texas. I have had 2 surgeries with Dr Atkins for spinal cord stimulator. First time I had problems with it. The real problems is his office staff particularly his nurse Lena. She will not return any calls left in her voicemail and catching her answering her phone is near impossible even when it's urgent that something might be wrong with my stimulator. She also discriminates against white patients by seeing other Hispanics that haven't been in the office as long. I was left in the waiting room until the very last and I was in sooooo much pain that I was in tears. I will not refer anyone to that Dr Atkins especially if they are white. I had indicated on my initial paperwork that I cannot sit for more than an hour. I am a patient person and understand that doctors offices are busy but when the nurse see patients that checked in after me and I had already been there a long time then that discrimination.

This doctor is the best neurosugeon in Texas by far if you are looking to get a spinal cord stimulator. His reputation is excellent in the medical community. His clinical skills are outstanding and he has a warm bedside manner. I highly recommend him.

Briefed me thoroughly with MRI. Did everything as he stated. Would recommend him for surgery. Very pleased. Still recovering now.

If it was possible to give this "doctor" zero stars, I would. He performed a surgery, doing a spinal cord stimulator paddle implant, plus the battery, BUT did the paddle implant AT THE WRONG LEVEL! Then he denies it for over a year, withholding part of my medical records for a year, until it was too scarred over to redo the surgery and put it in the correct place. Once I finally got the other half of my records from him, there were SO many discrepancies. Half of them were changed to make it look like he did the correct surgery, AND saying that I had back pain prior to his mistake. This guy is so irresponsible, and will do whatever it takes to cover his malpractice. I went to him because he had such great reviews, but after making things public, this had happened to several other people, even other doctors I have seen after him have confirmed that they were not surprised. I am not only still in extreme pain because he didn't do the correct surgery, BUT I'm in even more pain because of… his actions, and because he hid the truth for so long that it is now impossible to fix the problem. All the cares about is his money. That's all going to the useless when you finally are punished for all of your medical malpractice you "perform".

I was referred to this Dr. 4 days ago and there method is you have to leave a message for the SECRETARY to call you back. Well it's been four days I have called everyday for the last 4 days and left a message. Still no phone call back from the SECRETARY. HA! I think I will pass on this DR!

Dr. Atkins is the Best of the Best. He understands the fears and concerns that everyone has in the face of a brain and/or spine issue. I believe Dr. Atkins and his staff strive every day to put patients at ease when they walk in the door. He was brilliant, explained everything in great detail, was very patient, and answered all my questions. Never once did I feel rushed or under pressure. First class service and exceptional standard of treatment all round including commendable aftercare.

Answered very few questions, threw brochures at us, and had his hand on the door knob ready to walk out after less than 10 min, after I waited 2 hrs to see him. He later told my referring Dr that my case was too complicated. Nurse even said how over worked, underpaid, and under appreciated she was. Sad. Terrible experience! Entire office staff seemed disgruntled with an I don't care attitude.

This was called the Screaming Surgery, that's because while I was having a Spinal Stimulator installed I was not given enough sedation. As I later found out and not from Adkin's, was that I kept waking up. Most of the time screaming and pleading for them to stop. I felt them put the wires in my back, then shove the wires through my back to my right side where the battery pack was cut. Now I was in an out of all through the operation, I can't believe that anyone would be so careless.
