Very frustrated. I was scheduled for surgery but had it delayed due to some heart issues. Once I was cleared, I've left 4 messages between April 24th - May 20th and not received a single response. Her voicemail says, 'leaving multiple messages may delay a response' so I only called once a week. I'll have to start all over with a new neurosurgeon. Very very frustrated.

I made an appointment with Dr Hilton and then was turned away because my injury was result of an accident and they needed to check with insurance first to see if I was covered. Waited over a month and finally get an appointment and then am told I don’t need surgery and to see another doc of other issues. He didn’t even look at my MRI but for a minute at that. Went to another neurosurgeon and explained what was going on was prescribed muscle relaxers and physics therapy and tried that but no go. Ended up getting to the point I could barely walk and was in so much pain, new doctor decided surgery was my best option. Ended up with a 3 level spinal fusion and my back was much worse than what MRI showed. Turns out I had Cauda Equine which is major and requires immediate treatment. I have nerve damage and most likely will be permanent because of loss of time just getting io to be told surgery wasn’t necessary. Glad I got a second opinion. They told my husband after my surgery that they… couldn’t believe I was still even able to walk. That says how bad I was but wasn’t taken seriously.

Dr. Donald Hilton was great but office organization and follow ups are the pits.. Do not do zoom they will never call you when scheduled.. make in house appointments always..

I consider myself one of the lucky ones. Back in 2018 I had a friend refer Dr. Hilton t me after living in almost unbearable pain for many months. I had fallen down at home in my garage and fell flat on my back. Apparently my cervical spine area was hit by something on my way down to the floor. I didn’t start hurting right away, it was over the course of a couple of months that my pain shot down my cervical area down my right arm. I went for pain management, epidural injections & many prescriptions for pain killers, and physical therapy & nothing worked. I finally went to see Dr. Hilton. He conducted a few more tests and then offered to perform surgery. He fused my C-3 & C-4 spine and it was like a miracle, my pain stopped. This man gave me my life back. I was living with the worst pain you can even imagine. I drove from Corpus Christi, Tx to San Antonio to be treated by Dr. Hilton. I just cannot say how grateful I am for Dr. Hilton and his staff. Everyone was so kind to… me & my husband. True to point every time I count my blessings, I count Dr. Hilton twice. He saved my life.

In 2005 I needed a cervical fusion. This was apparent when I saw the MRI. Before he started to explain, I said, “Schedule it.” I drove over 500 miles a week for my job, so it was imperative the surgery be scheduled quickly. The whiplash from a traffic accident would likely rendered me a quadriplegic. Two weeks later, underwent the surgery. I am writing this over 14 years later to express my gratitude. My job had permitted me to be aware of the abilities of neuro and orthopedic surgeons. I asked for a referral for Dr. Hilton as I knew he was the best neurosurgeon in San Antonio and one of the very best in Texas. I have more lateral range of motion than anyone else whom I know in my age group. It is amazing! I feel like an owl when I turn my head in yoga class! Not even the instructor in my senior citizen class, a woman slightly younger than my 69 years, has comparable lateral range of motion! This is particularly amazing when the surgery transpired in early 2005.… Since then, Dr. Hilton has continued to reside at the very top of the neurosurgeons in the region. A fusion with instrumentation and the implantation of cadaver bone may eventually lead to disc herniations above and below the surgical site. Mine has not resulted in any noticeable herniations. I feel so very lucky that I was Dr. Hilton’s patient! Thank you again Dr. Hilton for your superior expertise.

I have been Dr Hilton's patient since 2000. Dr Hilton is one of the only doctors I have ever seen tha I truly trust. He is extremely good. His office has frequently jerked me around however. The latest time,this year for a second opinion from the VA but i was jerked aroun long enough as another commenter that my referral had expired. Now i have 1 of 2 life threatening issues needing treatment and no one to trust. Sad to feel at 59 just yesterday i have nothing to look forward to. I believe Dr Hilton needs to be aware what the staff puts some of their patients through.

Dr. Hilton is a excellent Dr. Both my wife and myself has had microscopic surgery and we are doing real fine.

After months of pain & numbness in my arm Dr, Hilton performed cervical microdiscectomy minimally invasive tubula retractor surgery, He was spot on with an accurate diagnosis. The numbness & tingling in arm is gone after 24 hrs after surgery, I RECOMMENED his services to anyone with this issue my recovery was amazingly fast.

Dr. Hilton accurately diagnosed my condition by closely examining my MRI and asking many questions about events in my life leading up to the onset of my symptoms. The narrative portion of my MRI and what I was experiencing did not match up. He correctly diagnosed that I had a cyst in my fifth lumbar vertebrae that was pushing on a nerve root. Immediately after surgery my symptoms were gone! Dr. Hilton's trained eye saw the true cause of my problems. He is incredibly skilled and experienced.

I know of four members of our church that has had back surgery performed by Dr. Hilton. All have ben very successful. Dr. Hilton is not a member of our church. Each of the four has gone on personal recommendations.
