Summary
Donald E. McCanse grew up in Oregon, Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1972. He attended the U of I School of Medicine in Rockford where he met his wife Jude, graduating in 1976. Dr. McCanse did an internship in Internal Medicine before doing a residency in Surgery at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. This was followed by a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Carle Clinic in Urbana, Illinois. In 1983 Dr. McCanse returned to the Rock River Valley to join the Rockford Clinic Department of Surgery.
While at the Rockford Clinic he served on the Board of Directors of both the Rockford Clinic and the Rockford Health System. He also served as Vice President of Medical Affairs at Rockford Memorial Hospital. For the last several years, Dr. McCanse has devoted his full time to the clinical practice of surgery. Dr. McCanse has been twice named by his peers in Best Doctors in America.
Dr. McCanse is board certified in Surgery and in Colon and …Rectal Surgery and is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He is also a clinical assistant professor in Surgery at the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine at Rockford.
Dr. McCanse and his wife Jude have five children Josie, Michael, Cara, Jacquelyn and Hilary. He spends his free time with his family and attempts to golf on occasion.
